Chapter Eleven

BAILEY I sleepily open my eyes, everything is a little blurry but I know something is off. I'm not at home. Where the hell am I? I sit up and look down at the strange bed I'm sitting on. I've been sleeping on somebody elses bed! I look around at my surroundings, my heart beating so fast as the realisation of me being kidnapped sinks in. The black sheets and whole mood of the room tells me that this is a mans bedroom. At least I'm not tied up. So whoever has taken me isn't completely bad? Right? I think over what I happened before I woke up here and all I remember is that I was with Nero. He came over with food and then we were talking on the sofa. Did he leave and then I fell asleep? If that was the case, then I would remember him leaving, but this can't be Nero's doing. He's nice. But then again, I hardly know him. I trusted that he was a good person when he could have been a secret killer all along! Okay, if Nero was a killer then surely he would have tied me up and I wouldn't be able to freely walk around him bedroom. I look around at my surroundings, trying to see if I can see my phone but it's gone! Whoever is holding me here has my phone. I get up from the bed and head straight over to the door, but of course it's locked. I place my ear against the wood but I can't hear anything. No talking or even background noises like the TV or cars driving by. I quickly turn around and spot a large window near the bed and run over to it. Now I know why I can't hear any cars! There's nothing out here but forest and hills! Whoever lives here has a nice back garden though. There's a huge hot tub, a swimming pool and an outside bar. Perhaps is it Nero and he likes to party. Why would Nero want to kidnap me though? I take a deep breath before trying to open the window, it's big enough that I could fit through it. Wide hips and all. If this doesn't open then I don't know what's going to happen next. Okay, one, two, three, open! I yank down on the handle but I'm met with resistance. It's locked! I hang my head in defeat, breathing heavily as I hold back the tears. I could smash the window? Just then, I hear a noise and I freeze. The distant sound of voices travels towards me and I run back over to the door. "Hello?" I shout. "Help me!" Silence greets me, but I sense that someone is there. "I'm locked in here! Please!" I bang my fists loudly on the door. "Get me out!" Footsteps approach the door and there's a pause before they talk. "It's ok Bailey." "Nero!?" I frown. "What's going on? Why have you trapped me here?" "You're not trapped." "Oh really?" I snap back. "So why is the door locked? You going to let me out?" "I will, when you're ready." I'm getting so frustrated, but the scare factor has gone. I somehow know I'm not in danger, I feel it in my bones but I'm angry that Nero is doing this to me. "Ready?" I yell. "For what? I want to get out now!" All of a sudden my head hurts and it's that painful, I fall to the floor. "Bailey?" Nero asks, sounding worried. "What's happening?" I hear the click of the door unlocking but I can't get up to do anything about it. Strong arms wrap around me and carry me to the bed. Nero lays me down and joins me on the bed, holding me close and enveloping me in his heat. "You're going to be ok." He rubs my back and the pain lessens, his hand rubbing my back feels so soothing. "What's happening?" Not knowing myself, whether I'm asking about being locked away or what's going on with my head. "This is my place." He confirms what I thought earlier. "Why am I here? Why have you done this?" Nero continues to stroke my back. "You know that you're not in danger, don't you?" I nod my head, confirming that I don't feel as though I should be scared of him. It sounds stupid because he's obviously brought me here against my will and locked me in his room. "Remember that because what I'm about to tell you, is a lot to take in." I sit up so I can look Nero in the eye as he explains what I'm doing here. "Ok." "Do you remember anything about your parents?" His question shocks me, I was not expecting that. "No." I shake my head. "What has that got to do with anything?" "Everything." Nero looks deadly serious and reaches out, gently touching my necklace. "You're not who you think you are Bailey." "What are you talking about?" I shake my head and sit up, facing him. "I need to know what type of crazy s**t is going on here, you took me from my home and have me locked away in your bedroom. That's crazy Nero!" "I know." He nods but I get up from the bed in frustration. "I don't think you do because if you did, I wouldn't be here!" I spread out my arms, gesturing to his bedroom. "I want to know why you're acting like a phycho." Nero smirks. "You want me to give it to you straight?" "Yes!" I sigh loudly. "Tell me why you have me here, trapped like a hostage." "You're not a hostage." He argues. "Oh really?" I laugh. "Can I walk out of here then?" I open his bedroom door and this time, it opens however I still can't escape because a huge man blocks the doorway. I gasp in shock and step back. "Everything good?" He asks, looking to Nero. In return, Nero nods and the large man smirks at me, closing the door in my face. I slowly turn to face Nero. "So, I'm not a hostage?" "That's my Beta, Archer." My heart stops for a second. "Your Beta?" I ask and Nero simply nods. "So, that would make you, Alpha?" Nero raises his eyebrows and nods. "You know your terms." "I read a lot of werewolf romances to know the basic terms, yes." I shrug, slightly embarrassed by my confession. "But, obviously you're not a werewolf," I laugh. Nero doesn't react, he just sits on his bed and watches me laugh, but it's not long until I fall silent. "Nero?" Without a word, Nero steps from the bed and walks over to me. When I take a single step backwards, he freezes in place. "Bailey." I hold out my hand in front of me and shake my head. "I know you haven't brought me here to tell me what I think you're trying to tell me because that's just insane!" "What do you think I'm going to say?" I don't want to say anything because then I will sound like the unstable one. "Bailey, what do you think I'm going to say?" Nero continues his steps towards me and when he's close enough to touch me, he reaches for my hand and pulls me closer. He touches my necklace once again. "We've tried to look into your parents but other than their names, and the fact that they had you and gave you this necklace, we only know that they were on the run." "What?" I look up at him in wonder. "Your parents were running, from what we don't know but we have concluded that they were taking you away and escaping." "You're looking into my parents?" I ask in a daze. "Why?" Nero takes in a deep breath, places his hands on my shoulders and looks right into my eyes. "Because you're a she wolf, Bailey." I stand still and stare at him. Is he serious? Suddenly I begin to laugh and Nero frowns as he watches me come apart. "Have you been looking into my writing?" I giggle. "You're being cruel Nero, bringing my parents into the prank but you got me." I laugh some more and Nero looks concerned. "Good one, you secretly brought me here, locked me away to play a prank. Maybe took it a bit too far but good one." "It's not a prank." Nero frowns. "You are a werewolf, and so am I." I point to the bedroom door. "Is your friend in on it too?" "Bailey." Nero reaches out to me but I step away. "Stop playing with me, Nero." "I brought you here for your own safety." Nero now frowns, I can see he's getting a little annoyed but he has no right to be. I'm the one locked in his bedroom. "I think I'm ok." I roll my eyes. "Jokes over now, you can take me home." "You're not going anywhere." His voice is low and clear. "You need to understand who you are. That necklace you're wearing? It's a mating gift, your father would have given it to your mother when the ceremonies were complete, the crystal inside is a symbol of the pack they're from. We don't know which yet, but we will." I look down at my necklace, my wolf shaped necklace that my mother never took off. "You must feel your wolf inside of you?" I shake my head. "Nero." "I'm deadly serious," he comes to stand right in front of me again and gently places his hands either side of my jawline, tilting my head up to look right at him. "Those headaches? That's your wolf trying to come forward, you were never taught how to connect with her or see other wolves around you. You were torn from that part of your life, you were raised as human but you're not Bailey. You are my fated." The headache part makes sense, but the werewolf part is not true. "I don't think-" "You are a werewolf." Nero interrupts me. "I am Alpha of the Luna Pack and you are my fated mate. We were literally born to be together and lead the pack of werewolves." My heart beats so fast my head begins to hurt again. "You're head is hurting, that's because I'm telling you the truth and my wolf is trying to find yours and she's fighting. She knows who you really are. Let her guide you." Nero leads me back to the bed and we sit on the edge. "Take a deep breath and keep breathing deeply," He pulls me to lean onto him, feeling his heat and his soothing hand rubbing my back. "Keep breathing." My eyes close and I continue to keep breathing in and out, Nero's heat easing my head. Suddenly a brown wolf comes to mind and it's the one I've been dreaming of. I've been dreaming as her actually, running as her and walking with another. She's looking at me and my heat speeds, I gasp as I feel her all around me and my eyes snap open. Nero is smiling at me. "That's me?" He nods, looking proud. "That's your wolf. She's you and you are her." "You're telling the truth?" I ask, still doubting what he's trying to tell me. "Close your eyes and let me join you." I don't understand, but I close my eyes and breathe as I did before. I see my wolf again and I notice how pretty she is. She bows her head but then gets excited as a big, black wolf enters my head. It's the wolf I've seen around my house and in my dreams. A distant, echo like voice enters my head. "Bailey." My eyes snap open with a gasp again. "Nero!" He laughs. "It's me." "That wolf is you?" I can't believe it. "We've been dreaming together." My cheeks blush. "All this time?" He laughs, and places a finger under my chin. "All this time." Nero leans in and kisses me, finally our first kiss! It begins as gentle, but when I lean into him to deepen the kiss it spurs him on. Nero almost growls and secures my head in his hands, holding me still as he has his way with my mouth. I break away, gasping for air and look at him in amazement. My eyes widen when I remember the dreams and he laughs, already knowing what I'm thinking. "The dreams." Nero laughs even more. "Your wolf is a wild one." "Oh my god." I bury my face in my hands. "You're here because I'm worried your wolf is going to push forward too much and hurt you because you have no idea how to go through it." "As in, transform?" Panic settles in. "As her? My wolf?" Nero nods, holding my hands in his. "I'll teach you and the whole pack will help." "The pack?" I get nervous at the thought of meeting a whole pack of werewolves. "It's going to be fine, you already know some of them," he admits. "My sister, Steph and her daughter, Tilly. You know Clara and Rosa." "I work with werewolves!" I gasp. "Bailey, you're a werewolf." Nero points out, still doesn't sound real. "As of today." I remind him. "Since you were born." He corrects. "So, if my parents weren't dead, I would already know all of this?" Nero nods. "You would have grown up in a community, connecting with your wolf at a young age and you would have discovered me." I give him a puzzled look. "Discovered you?" "I've been dreaming of you from a young age. I would feel how sad you were and watched you as you grew. It's what fated mates do, we connect in our thoughts and dreams." "Oh my god." I whisper, thinking back to my child. "You were the boy in my dreams?" Nero is the one to look surprised now. "You remember that?" "I would talk to a boy in my dreams when I would miss my parents or placed in different homes, he was always there when I went to sleep." I look at Nero and shake my head, tears in my eyes. "It was you." I wrap my arms around Nero, letting this huge news settle in. This has to be true, the memories and the dreams, not mentioning seeing my wolf within me. "I'm a werewolf." I whisper, buried in Nero's neck. "You're a werewolf." Nero repeats. "Welcome home." A tear runs down my cheek and I close my eyes, my wolf comes to view straight away and almost looks like she's smiling, wagging my tail. We're home.
