EIGHT – MILO

358 Words
The first thing Milo noticed was the bed. It wasn't the thin mattress on a creaky frame he'd had since childhood. This one was massive, draped in silk sheets so soft they felt unreal beneath his fingertips. He sat up slowly, his body… different. Broader. Taller. He caught sight of himself in the floor-to-ceiling mirror across the room—and froze. The man staring back at him wasn't Milo Anders. This version of Milo was built like a Greek god—broad shoulders, sculpted muscles, a jawline sharp enough to cut glass. His messy brown hair had become thick and effortlessly styled, his glasses gone. But his eyes—still that same warm hazel—looked alive in a way they never had before. "Holy… s**t," Milo whispered, stepping closer to the mirror. His phone buzzed on the nightstand. Except it wasn't his old cracked phone. This one was brand-new, sleek, and expensive. The screen lit up with hundreds of notifications. Articles. Mentions. Business headlines. "Tech Prodigy Miles Arden Becomes Youngest CEO in History to Hit $1 Billion Net Worth." "Next Elon Musk? Meet Miles Arden, The Genius Behind Ardent Technologies." Milo stared. "Miles Arden?" he murmured. It was his face in all the photos—dressed in sharp suits, shaking hands with industry giants, smiling confidently at red-carpet events. There was a knock at the door. "Mr. Arden," a woman's voice said warmly. "Your car is ready. You have a lunch meeting with investors at noon." Car? Milo stepped out onto the balcony—and nearly swore aloud. The skyline stretched endlessly before him, the city glimmering in the sun. Down below, a sleek silver sports car waited in the private driveway. And this penthouse… It was his. Miles Arden. Billionaire tech prodigy. He wasn't Milo Anders anymore. He was everything he had ever dreamed of being. What he didn't know—what neither of them knew—was that in the very same building, on a higher floor, Avery Quinn—now Ava Quinn—was standing on her own balcony, basking in her new life. Neither of them knew how close they were. Not yet.
