She found a corner booth and slid in next to Sophia, who greeted her with a smile that was both warm and mysterious. Sophia’s calm presence was a stark contrast to Kiera’s fiery energy. They’d met a few weeks ago, and though their connection was still new, it felt like they’d known each other forever.
“I needed this,” Kiera said, her fingers brushing against the rim of her glass. “It’s been a hell of a week.”
Sophia chuckled softly, eyes sparkling. “Tell me about it. Let’s forget about the world for a while.”
Before Kiera could reply, the door to the bar opened with a gust of cold air. Valeria entered, her sharp eyes scanning the room like a predator. Kiera froze. The mafia heiress was a woman who commanded attention with every step, and tonight, her gaze locked with Kiera’s.
"Well, well, if it isn’t the wild one," Valeria smirked, her voice smooth like silk and poison combined.
