Chapter 3 - Survival

Rialta staggered back as Kenzo walked toward her. The girl covered her chest with both hands. "Don't come any closer! You have to keep your distance from me!" she warned. Kenzo smiled wryly at Rialta's reaction, making her even more frightened. The girl's body trembled. "If you dare to commit such an insolent act! My father will not forgive you!" warned Rialta again. Her father was one of the richest men in Finland. Kenzo took a pair of black pants and a long-sleeved woman's shirt from the suitcase. "Wear this shirt! Your shirt is not fit to wear." Rialta accepted the pink shirt with a puzzled look on her face and seemed to be thinking. "What are you waiting for? Put that shirt on quickly. Are you trying to tease me with your torn shirt?" Kenzo was deliberately teasing Rialta. "How could I possibly want to tease you!" Rialta's face pouting. She stood up, then walked around to find a large rock. "No peeking!" she ordered. "I want to peek at you!" said Kenzo ignorantly. He laughed softly. "Kenzo, watch out if you really do that!" Rialta shouted threateningly. Behind a large rock, she quickly changed her shirt into a pink t-shirt. After that, she walked out from behind the rock. She was surprised to see Kenzo making a makeshift net out of his beach pants. "Oh, you took off your pants to make a fishing net." Kenzo looked at Rialta's face, that was exposed to the moonlight. "Yes, what you said is true. What do you expect me to do?" Kenzo said sarcastically, making Rialta's face redden with embarrassment. "I don't know that line of thinking! Moreover, I've heard a lot of people in the office talk about you having a lot of negative traits!" Rialta defended herself. "Rialta, do you really believe those negative rumors about me in the office?" Kenzo asked while storing the emergency net in a safe place. Rialta shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, but they could be true." "What people say is not necessarily the truth." The negative rumors were spread by Darren. Darren, a person who has always been hostile to Kenzo since his school days. Even after entering the working world, Darren's attitude remained the same. Kenzo took some dry clothes and put them on the sand to make a makeshift bed. His body was tired. He needed rest. Rialta followed Kenzo's lead. "I wish my soft mattress was here. I can't sleep like this." Rialta's back ached from sleeping on a dry mattress. She lay down next to Kenzo. "You're spoiled," Kenzo said quietly, which Rialta didn't expect to hear clearly. "I can hear it!" Rialta retorted unhappily. She covered her mouth with her hand as drowsiness attacked her. Kenzo pretended not to hear her. He closed his eyes and decided to sleep. Half an hour or so later, he woke up to the feeling of his body being embraced by Rialta, who was fast asleep. He glanced up and was surprised when Rialta's hand touched Kenzo's firm chest. He repeatedly lowered Rialta's hand from his chest, but the girl's hand returned to Kenzo's chest and rubbed it lightly. Rialta moaned and hugged Kenzo's athletic body tighter. Rialta's full and ideal body clung tightly to Kenzo's body. "This girl is really... testing my faith." Kenzo's heart was beating fast. His breathing went up and down like a hull wheel, a game at the fairground rides. He was a normal man, after all. The body parts down there were already standing up. His whole body started to heat up, the blood flow started to flow faster. I must restrain myself. If I really touch Rialta, it will prove Darren's slander to me, Kenzo thought. Kenzo tried hard to eliminate the outside thoughts that were in his brain. "You have to focus, Kenzo! I'd better get some sleep." Kenzo finally fell asleep after a long struggle. *** The sun slowly began to rise on the eastern horizon. Its rays slowly illuminated the initially dark sky. Its beautiful golden color began to shine on the earth. The cool morning breeze felt even warmer when the sunlight began to greet the face. Rialta slowly opened her eyelids. She was shocked to realize that she had been hugging Kenzo tightly all night. Her face instantly became hot and embarrassed. "What have I done?" she said softly. Rialta slowly removed her arms from Kenzo's body. The girl was transfixed for a moment. "If you look around, Kenzo is quite handsome." "What am I thinking? I need to get cleaned up." Rialta picked up the clothes she was going to wear today, then cleaned herself up as best she could. Rialta looked around the beach. The waves were rolling gently. "Morning is better than night." Rialta looked up at the clear sky. Several birds were flying in the sky. "Help hasn't arrived yet...," she said, a little disappointed, but she knew that aid workers were not easy to find on this remote island. Meanwhile, Kenzo was busy making a shovel out of a rock he found this morning. He dug through the sand and found sandworms, then collected them. "You want to eat those worms?" Rialta said with a look of disgust. "When did I say I was going to eat worms?" Kenzo asked back. "These worms are very good bait for fishing or catching fish," Kenzo explained as he pounded the worms with a stone until they were smooth. The worms give off a distinctive aroma. Kenzo wrapped the crushed worms in leaves and placed them on a net he had made last night, then he put them into a pool of water that had been prepared earlier. "If we're lucky, we'll have plenty of fish to eat this morning." Rialta had an uncertain expression. Kenzo saw that there was little wood left. He searched around for wood, and Rialta helped enthusiastically. Rialta was in a better mood than the day before. Rialta's stomach suddenly rumbled. She picked up dried fruits like apples, raisins, and mangoes and shared them with Kenzo. "Kenzo, can you make me a place to change my clothes later?" Rialta pleaded as she munched on a dried apple. "I'll try to make it." Kenzo understood that it was difficult for a woman like Rialta in a public place like this. "I'll wait." By noon, Kenzo was looking at the pit. A smile appeared on his lips and his face lit up at the sight of the sea animals trapped in the hole. There were three big fish, small fishes, big and small shrimps. The yield was enough for three meals for Kenzo and Rialta. Kenzo made a grill from the available wood, assembled the fish and prawns, and grilled them over the campfire. The fragrant aroma of the grilled fish and prawns tantalized the senses, even though they only used simple spices found on the beach. Not long after, the fish and prawns were perfectly cooked. They enjoyed the fish and shrimp together. It was delicious and very fresh. Rialta looked at Kenzo, smiling sweetly, and appreciated Kenzo even more. "Kenzo, I'm sorry, I misunderstood you!" she said sincerely. Kenzo was, of course, surprised that Rialta, the notoriously cold girl in the office, was willing to apologize to him. "Okay, I apologize." A few moments later, there was the sound of bushes swaying vigorously. "Could the smell of us grilling fish and shrimp attract hungry tigers?" Kenzo thought fearfully. Without speaking, Kenzo pushed Rialta to stand behind him. "What's wrong?" asked Rialta, surprised by Kenzo's actions. "Something is coming! Don't move, stay behind me," Kenzo ordered. He set up a stance, ready to attack.
