Chapter Seven

1072 Words
Camilla stared at the black haired beauty in front of her, her witty comment and reply ready for whatever Ruby was going to say, she had never met her before. But she was certain that the person in front of her was Ruby Davenport, Ethan Davenport's sister. Judging from all she had heard from Ava, she was certain Ruby would be as rude as Ethan, she was shocked when she got an apology instead, all the replies she had in her head disappearing, she was still shocked that she hadn’t realized Ruby had walked away, maybe she had been mistaken that had bumped into her or she wasn’t as rude as her brother, or they were only rude to people they believed was beneath them. Despite Ava insisting on dressing a little bit below what she was used to wearing and even though she had tried, she couldn’t help but always turn out sophisticated, that could be the only reason Ruby hadn’t said something that would have pissed her off. She brought her mind back to what had led her here, she had been so glad when the mass had ended and she could stop watching Ava faking her excitement. She still couldn’t understand why Ava insisted on going on with the marriage when she knew who the kind of person her husband was. She didn’t even know what she would have done if she had been in Ava's shoes, she knew how hard it was to say no to Asher. She turned around hoping to see Ava, she hadn’t stayed to wait for everybody to leave the church before she had gone, so she couldn’t tell if Ava was still in the church, pretending and faking to be so totally in love. Ruby stood at a corner watching Camilla silently, she was certain she was with Ava, someone close to her, she was checking her out, rating the outfit she was wearing, nothing she was wearing indicated that she was from an average family. Looking at her closely, you could tell she was trying so hard to hide the fact that she was wealthy. The cloth she was putting on showed both sophistication and elegance, her skin had a glow to it. And her makeup was something she was sure was done by a professional, which would have caused a lot of money. How had she become friends with Ava, or was Ava’s job finding rich people she could leech from. It was working for her though, because if you didn't know her, one look at her would have you convinced she was from money. But she was certain Ava was nowhere rich, not even average or her grandfather would have mentioned it Except if she was wrong, and Camilla wasn’t really wealthy, but just trying hard to look rich. And they were just lucky to have good skin. Then it would mean Camilla was good with makeup, or Ava paid for them with the money Ethan had been so casually letting her have. She shook her head, taking Camilla away from her thoughts and moving closer to the water, dipping her bare foot into the water, feeling it’s cool water flowing through her through her feet, closing her eyes, enjoying the feeling. She turned around, wondering who was disturbing the feeling she was having, when she saw Ethan looking at her, his hands on her shoulder. He had an expression that said, “I don’t know if I should be happy that you came for the wedding, or I should pretend to be sad that you came considering the fact that you don’t look so excited to be here” Opting to smile instead, Ethan broke into a huge smile, hugging Ruby as he did so. “I am glad you are around”, “I was wondering how I would be able to get through this day without you here”, while still holding her in a tight hug. “You love her, don't you?”. Removing herself from the embrace, asking him the question she had been so bothered about. She wasn't bothered about the fact that he had found out she had come, all her hiding and everything for nothing. She just wanted to know the answer to the question that was starting to drill a hole in her heart. Ethan held Ruby's shoulder looking at her intently while smiling, trying to read the emotions on her face, which wasn't so hard to do. He knew Ruby had a crush on him once, and couldn't understand why. They were siblings. Getting guys to flock around her wasn't a problem either, she was rich, beautiful and confident, but she always ignored them and focused on him instead Took it as teenage hormones, he also knew Ruby depended on him a lot, and most of his failed relationship with girls was also attributed to her, somehow. He was contemplating telling her that he didn't love Ava, reminding her that he had said he couldn't love Ava, but thought against it. This was for the best, maybe she would realize they weren't going to be together forever, that it was time for her to grow up. Taking two steps back, the smile still on his face, looking her in the eye. “I can't tell you that”. “You might not like the answer”, watching her face, smiling as he saw her eyebrow squeeze up, and the lines by the corner of her mouth twist from disgust to anger and then finally a smile, like she was trying to hide what she was truly feeling. “Come on Ruby”, “The main event is about to start”, “And I am certain grandfather would be looking for you”, Ethan added, turning around and going to look for Logan. His lips stretched wide in a bright smile. He had gotten the reaction he wanted from Ruby. In as much as he wanted Ruby to stop being dependent on him, he knew she wasn't going to change overnight, and he was certain she was going to give Ava a hard time. Hopefully that would make Ava rethink the marriage, ask for a divorce and he wouldn't be tied down anymore. Nobody would blame him and he could go back to how he loved his life. 'Single and without stress’.
