Nova’s POV The drive back to the palace was silent. Nova sat curled in the backseat of the black SUV, Max beside her, his hand never once leaving hers. Her eyes, rimmed red with grief and sleeplessness, stared blankly out the window as they passed through forest and city, the world oblivious to the weight that pressed against her soul. Her father was gone. Her pack gone. All of Rosewood burned. She had cried herself dry, but inside, a storm still raged. It wasn’t just sorrow. It was fury. As the palace gates opened and the convoy drove through, warriors posted at every corner stiffened to attention. Gamma Lincoln led the way, barking out orders, the air tight with tension.
