Chapter 5

As they drove up to the mansion, Elena's eyes widened as the luxurious view came into focus. The sprawling gardens, the perfectly manicured lawns, and the grand entrance all blended together to create a breathtaking sight. The car finally came to a stop, and Luca turned to her with a smile. They both stepped out of the vehicle, and Luca handed the keys to a man who was waiting discreetly by the side. Elena assumed he was the chauffeur or bodyguard, and he nodded respectfully as he took the keys to park the car properly in the garage. As they walked towards the house, Luca took the lead, and Elena followed closely behind him. At the door, a warm smile greeted them. A lady in her fifties, dressed in a light blue pinafore and a crisp white short-sleeved shirt, stood waiting for their arrival. Her eyes sparkled with kindness, and her voice was as sweet as honey as she said, "Welcome back, sir." The words filled the room with a cozy atmosphere, making Elena feel instantly at ease. The lady's gaze turned to Elena, and her smile grew even wider. "And who might this beautiful lady you have with you be?" she asked softly, her eyes crinkling at the corners. Luca's response was immediate. "Marie, this is Elena, my wife, the new madam of this household." The words sent a shiver down Elena's spine. "My wife" – the phrase kept reverberating through her head, and she couldn't help but notice that it didn't sound as strange as she thought it would. In fact, it sounded rather... appealing. Elena's eyes met Luca's, and for a moment, they just looked at each other. She couldn't read the expression in his eyes, but she felt a flutter in her chest. Marie's voice broke the silence, "Welcome, madam. It's lovely to meet you." Elena smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards the kind-hearted woman. "Thank you, Marie," she replied, trying to sound confident. Luca's hand brushed against hers, and she felt a spark of electricity. She didn't pull away, letting the touch linger for a moment . “I’ll be heading to the office now, Marie will get you whatever you need” he said looking straight into Elena’s eyes before he gestured for her to follow Marie. As Marie led her into the house, Elena couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. The interior was just as breathtaking as the exterior, with elegant furnishings and exquisite decor. She felt like she was stepping into a different world, one that was full of luxury and refinement. As they walked through the house, the sound of Marie's gentle humming filled the air, and Elena found herself smiling. Maybe this new chapter in her life wouldn't be so bad after all. As they climbed the long stairs, Elena trailed behind Marie, her eyes fixed on the intricate details and designs on the stair railings. The magnificent chandelier hanging in the middle of the stairwell cast a warm glow, illuminating the space. She marveled at the beauty of the mansion, feeling like she was stepping into a different world. When they finally reached the first floor, Elena noticed that the stairs continued up to another floor, but she guessed that wasn't her destination. She made a mental note to explore that floor another time, perhaps when she had more freedom to roam. For now, she followed Marie down a hallway, their footsteps echoing off the walls. They stopped at a door, and Marie turned to face her, a soft smile on her lips. "If you need anything, you can come find me downstairs," Marie said. "For now, you should settle in while I make you something to eat." Marie started to walk off, but then turned back to ask, "Any specific request?" Elena shook her head, smiling politely. "No, thank you," she replied. Marie nodded and pushed the door open for Elena. As Elena stepped into the room, she looked around, taking in the space. At a glance, she could tell it was Luca's room. The walls were painted a crisp white, contrasting with the all-black furniture. The king-size bed dominated the room, with a sleek black couch beside the window. A matching rug lay at the foot of the bed, adding warmth to the otherwise cool-toned space. Elena shut the door behind her and took a few more steps into the room. She felt a sense of curiosity, and decided to wander around . She walked over to the walk-in closet, sliding open the door to reveal a neatly organized space. That's when she realized she hadn't packed any clothes with her. A pang of worry began to form, but it was quickly alleviated when she saw clothes that looked like hers hanging in a corner of the closet. She walked towards them, seeing that her stuff was neatly arranged in this corner. Some other female clothes caught her eye, and she noticed they looked like they would be her size. She wondered if Luca had bought them for her or if they belonged to someone else. The thought sent a shiver down her spine, but she pushed it aside, focusing on the present moment. As she explored the closet, Elena felt a sense of gratitude towards Luca for thinking ahead. She took a deep breath, letting the stress of the day melt away. The room was peaceful, and she could hear the faint sound of birds chirping outside. She walked over to the window, pulling back the curtains to let in more light. The view was breathtaking, with perfectly manicured gardens stretching out as far as the eye could see. Elena stood there for a moment, taking in the beauty of the surroundings. She felt a sense of wonder, thinking about the life she was stepping into. As she turned back to the room, her eyes landed on the bed, and she felt a flutter in her chest. She knew she needed to get settled, but her mind was already racing with thoughts of Luca, maybe this marriage wasn’t such a bad idea
