As his hand groped for the zipper on her back, Summer Sutton suddenly pressed down his hand.
Adrian Walyon raised an eyebrow, lowering his eyes to look at her.
With one hand behind her back persistently searching for the door handle, while stalling him, Summer said, "There are so many people outside, I’m nervous."
She originally thought she could gain a bit of his sympathy, but unexpectedly, Adrian replied, "Then just close your eyes and don’t look!"
Summer was at a loss for words, the little flame in her chest flaring up.
Beast!
Adrian really had no patience for such matters. The hand that Summer was pressing down on, he couldn’t even be bothered to pull back, nor did he feel like taking off her dress, opting instead to directly push up her skirt.
Just as he was about to tug away the last layer of barrier beneath the dress, a faint sound of the door handle turning suddenly rang out.
Adrian sensed something, but before he could react, the car door behind Summer suddenly banged open.
With a large stride, she jumped out, maintaining a few steps of distance from him. Summer quickly wrapped herself tightly in his coat.
His coat was long enough to cover most of her petite figure, only revealing a small portion of her fair and slender calves in the air.
"Come here!" Adrian commanded coldly.
"No!" Summer raised her head, her attitude resolute.
Adrian’s cold, dark eyes shot out a sharp gleam, ready to pounce and catch her, but they were surrounded by countless gazes looking in their direction.
Adrian’s car was a heavy off-road vehicle, wild, domineering, and recklessly uninhibited. Anyone who knew cars would be easily attracted by his car at a glance.
The car had been parked there for quite a while, naturally drawing many glances, but with Summer getting off just like that, the eyes of the onlooking crowd immediately fell upon them both.
"I’ve already told you not to do this here!" Summer cautioned him, her eyes narrowing as she carefully observed his reaction.
She was secretly weighing her options, wondering if Adrian continued to act wantonly in disregard of the onlookers’ gazes, whether she should cry "indecency" and bring him disrepute.
"If you come up on your own, I won’t hold onto what just happened!" Adrian commanded coldly.
"You have to agree not to hold a grudge about what happened at school either!" Summer dared to bargain with him, unafraid.
Adrian’s face slightly darkened.
She was negotiating terms with him?
When his face fell, it was actually quite terrifying, the chill in his eyes was bone-piercing cold, just looking at it made people shiver uncontrollably.
The two of them engaged in a brief standoff.
Before they could negotiate a conclusion, a voice suddenly sounded not far away, "Summer Sutton, what are you doing there?"
The voice of Gina Sutton.
Summer’s cousin, who from childhood never had a hint of affection for her.
Gina had just returned from the mall with bags and bags of things. William Sutton probably wasn’t at ease with his daughter transferring to a new school and came along with her.
The father and daughter duo stood outside their car, both staring at Summer Sutton.
Gina’s gaze was sharp, immediately catching on to the man’s coat draped over Summer.
Something Adrian had just thrown to Summer to prevent her from exposure.
Gina had already suspected whether Summer was fooling around with some man, staring at the coat on her body again and again, and then shifting her gaze to the luxury car beside her, which appeared to be worth at least seventy to eighty million, she became even more convinced of her suspicion.
Such a luxurious car, let alone Summer Sutton, even their dad couldn’t afford it!
"Dad, look at what she’s become!" Gina pointed at Summer, her eyes full of disdain.
Summer Sutton’s gaze crossed over her, staring coldly at William Sutton beside her, his chilly expression sent shivers down her heart.
Ha, this is her biological uncle!
Unwilling to engage with the father-daughter pair, she bent down and got into Adrian Walyon’s car.
The car door slammed shut with a loud bang afterwards, arrogantly dismissing the people outside.
Gina Sutton trembled with anger.
Who does Summer Sutton think she is, daring to ignore her?
Actually, Adrian was the one who closed the door; as for Summer, she barely acknowledged Gina’s mood.
What enraged Gina Sutton even more was that when Adrian’s car sped away, it seemingly deliberately drove past Gina, stirring up fallen leaves along with splashes of water.
Gina Sutton’s face and clothes were drenched with water and covered in leaves, her meticulously applied makeup now looking utterly disheveled.
"Summer Sutton!" Clenching her teeth, she watched the departing car, her face dark with rage.
...
Adrian Walyon’s car had just left the school when Summer Sutton received a call from Gina Sutton.
"What’s up?" Summer held her phone, and as soon as the call connected, Gina began to shout, "Summer Sutton, what makes you think you’re something special? Don’t think just because you’ve hooked up with a rich man you’re amazing. You’re so young, yet you’ve started fooling around with men? Your personal life is so chaotic, you shamelessly disgrace the Sutton Family! From now on, don’t even say your surname is Sutton when you go out. You might not feel shame, but I can’t afford to lose face!"
She rattled off a barrage of words, her volume cranked high, things she had long wanted to say, finally catching the chance today.
Without giving her a chance to respond, Gina finished yelling and hung up the phone.
Summer Sutton was stunned by her shouting.
Hooked up with a man? Chaotic personal life?
Is that how she views her?
Ever since meeting her and William today, Summer’s heart had felt off.
Hearing these words now, it felt like a scar on her chest was being torn open, causing extreme pain.
How could she say such things about her?
After grandfather passed away, Summer was left unaccompanied. These past few years have indeed been tough for her.
To pay for her education, she started working part-time while studying even before she became an adult, sometimes rushing to multiple part-time jobs in a single day.
Many times, she was rejected due to her young age, not meeting hiring standards.
But even in the most helpless and destitute times, she conducted herself with integrity, never once betraying herself!
How dare Gina speak this way about her?
Everything Summer has today is all thanks to the Sutton Family!
Summer Sutton’s mood plunged to rock bottom, the atmosphere in the car was extremely oppressive.
On the way back to the villa, Adrian Walyon drove silently, Summer didn’t say a word.
After getting out of the car, Adrian walked ahead, while she didn’t act playfully with him like she did in the morning.
She followed him solemnly with her head down, unusually quiet.
Adrian entered the house first, uncomfortable with the atmosphere, he turned on the TV as soon as they were in the living room.
Originally intending to lighten the mood between them, but unexpectedly, the screen immediately displayed news about the Sutton Family.
This news was more formal, reporting the Sutton Company’s recent quarterly performance.
Summer Sutton’s gaze was fixed on the performance chart, staring at the sharply declining curve, her mood felt like it was wrapped in an additional layer of frost.
