The room was dark, with only the dappled moonlight streaming in. Outside the window, maple leaves rustled and fell, adding more silence to such a night. Summer Sutton felt Adrian Walyon’s face lean closer to hers, and then there was a cold touch on her lips. Summer Sutton’s body was tightly restrained by him, leaving her no room to struggle. The force was so great that it made her a little panicked, Summer Sutton was startled by him, without thinking, she raised her hand and slapped Adrian Walyon across the face. She hit with force, putting all her resisting strength into that slap. The sound of a slap echoed crisp between them. A few seconds of dead silence. The air in the room seemed to suddenly grow cold. Adrian Walyon never expected that this woman would dare to hit him. Stunned for a good while, his gaze sharp as he swept over her, his voice icy and chilling, "Is Miss Sutton demonstrating what it means to play hard to get?" He clamped her wrist, his tall body pressing down again, as if he intended to continue. "I don’t know what you’re talking about." Summer Sutton shrank back towards the edge of the bed, cautiously keeping her distance from him. "You threw yourself into my arms voluntarily, and now you’re pretending to be reserved?" Adrian Walyon seemed provoked by her, dragging her ankle, pulling her back beneath him again. Summer Sutton was momentarily dazed, continued to defend herself, "I don’t know what just happened, but whatever it was, I was asleep, how can I be blamed? Besides, didn’t I say, I sleep a bit unruly, it was you who insisted on having me keep you company!" She spoke logically, and if reasoning was the matter, Summer Sutton had a valid point. But was Adrian Walyon one to listen to reason? Adrian Walyon only ever had one principle: whatever he says is right, and no one can defy it! His large hand clamped her chin, wanting to continue, but Summer Sutton suddenly bent down and bit his arm. Taking advantage as he recoiled in pain, she pushed him aside and scrambled off the bed. But the night was too dark, the room too dimly lit, Summer Sutton’s foot missed the step, and her body fell directly towards the floor. Everything happened too quickly for Adrian Walyon to catch her. Thud! A dull sound resonated in the room. The hotel room they stayed in today had a wooden floor, without a carpet, so Summer Sutton’s fall wasn’t light. The sound itself was rather pitiful, her head hit first. "Ugh!" She winced in pain, climbing up from the ground, appearing slightly disheveled. Adrian Walyon flipped on all the lights in the room, got off the bed, and looked down at her, scanning her from head to toe, slowly uttering, "See the consequences of defying me? Even the floor is punishing you!" He was mocking her. Summer Sutton was so angry she wanted to hit someone. It was all his fault, anyway! Adrian didn’t respond to her gaze, bent down and picked her up, placing her on the bed, and knelt down to check her injuries. "Where did you fall?" His tone was suddenly gentler, shedding the earlier harshness, and carried a hint of tenderness. Summer Sutton was cautiously observing his expression. She sensed that his expression wasn’t as awful as before, and she slightly relaxed. "Arm." She stretched her arm out to him, and Adrian helped examine it. Her skin was really delicate, her arm white and slender, fine and tender. A slight rub could easily break the skin. Although the wound wasn’t large, on her arm it looked quite menacing. The hotel didn’t have a medical kit, so Adrian tore off a piece of his shirt and used it as a bandage to treat her wound. After a simple dressing, he asked again, "Anywhere else?" "Head." Summer replied truthfully. Adrian leaned over, parted a small tuft of hair on her forehead, and checked again. Summer had a bump on her head, a clearly noticeable large bump. Adrian stared at it, furrowing his brows, "Does it hurt a lot?" Actually, it didn’t hurt much. Summer wasn’t a girl who fussed over pain; this little ache didn’t mean much. However, afraid that if she said it didn’t hurt, he might continue pressing her for what he had been doing earlier, Summer pondered and softly replied, "Mmm." Adrian sat beside her, pulled her up onto his lap, and gently rubbed her head with his cool fingertips. He controlled the pressure perfectly, nothing like the ferocity he showed when he first pounced on her. Summer really liked the feel of his fingertips, like the gentle flow of a stream, cool and tinged with the subtle fragrance of the morning breeze. It was a very comforting sensation, comfortable enough to make Summer feel sleepy. Since she had woken up suddenly halfway through her sleep, leaning against Adrian, she gradually dozed off, and indeed fell asleep. Adrian continued to rub her head for quite a while, noticing she remained quiet. Lowering his eyes to look at her nestled within his arms, his expression turned slightly grim. This woman really didn’t know what was good for her. Sleeping like this in his arms? Adrian thought Summer was somewhat lacking a nerve; spending the night together, besides sleeping, what else did she know to do? As he stared at her sleeping face, an impulse to throw her out the window suddenly arose. But seeing her look so serene while asleep, he resisted. Placing her on the bed, Adrian lay back down beside her. ... The next day. Summer Sutton had an early class today, got up at seven, hurriedly washed up, skipped breakfast, and rushed to school. Adrian drove her to the school gate, and as she was about to go inside, he called out to her, "What time are your classes over this afternoon? I’ll come pick you up." Summer was very honest in front of him now. Whenever he asked something, she answered straightforwardly, "Four." Even though she didn’t want to see him, there was no need to lie. If Adrian came and couldn’t find her, and got upset, she’d still be the one to suffer. "Wait for me at the school gate then." Adrian was pleased with her answer, leaving her with that instruction before driving away from the school. Summer Sutton hurriedly hugged her books and headed to the teaching building. This time was just right for classes, so there were many students heading towards the teaching building at the school. This morning seemed somewhat strange, wherever Summer went, multiple gazes fell upon her, accompanied by quite a few people pointing and commenting. Summer frowned suspiciously. Ignoring them, she carried her books and went to the classroom.
