Stella’s pov My heart dropped. “How did you…?” “You shouldn’t be here.” I held the file tightly. “I have questions.” “I know.” “You knew I was coming.” “Yes.” “Why?” He walked closer. “Because I was waiting for you.” I stared at him. Then he said the words I never expected. “I knew who you were before you applied for this job.” My mouth opened slightly. “What?” He looked at the file in my hand. “Your parents weren’t killed because of me, Stella.” I shook my head. “Don’t lie to me.” “I’m not.” “Then tell me the truth!” He remained calm. “Your parents were investigating someone.” “Who?” He looked at me. “Someone inside this company.” Before I could ask another question, the lights suddenly went off. I heard a noise behind me. I saw flashlights and a shadow. Someone had entered the fifth floor. Corbin quickly stood up and grabbed my hand. He pulled me to the corner of the room to he’s arm. We hid behind the shelf. I felt his tight grip on my arm. He pulled me close to his chest. I could hear he's heart beat fast. His scent was so strong. After we hid for a while , Then the lights came back on. “What just happened?” Corbin looked toward the door. “Someone else knew you were coming.” “What?” “The office is closed for the day,” “Who would still be around till this time?” “I don't know” “I need to go home” I walked to the door Corbin blocked my way “You can't leave it's not safe” “Then how am I supposed to go home?” “You can't, you have to stay over.” “No way” “No freaking way I'm staying in the same room with you” He laughed “Are you scared of me?” He smiled. “No I'm not” “Then stay” “You don't know if that person is still out there” I wasn't happy so stay there. But I didn't have a choice. “You can take the couches” “I'll stay up to make sure you're safe.” By morning, I sneaked out of the office and went home. When Corbin was fast asleep. When I got home. I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened last night.. The file. The photographs. My parents. And Corbin. Everything I believed was beginning to fall apart. The next morning, I got to work. I saw an email on my system. FROM: Corbin Corbin called me into his office again. Later after work, I went to hide my car in the usual spot, I hid it and went to the fifth floor. I entered the elevator and pressed the number five. Once I got to the floor. I walked in with my arms folded. “If this is another attempt to scare me, it won’t work.” He looked at me. “Sit down.” “I’d rather stand.” He sighed. “Fine.” He pushed a document across the desk. I looked at it. “What is this?” “An agreement.” I picked it up. Then my eyes widened. What in the world is going on? Does he think I'm a joke?
