Liora’s POV By Tuesday evening, I had already started thinking about where Karl would sleep. It was strange how something so simple could make me stand in the middle of my apartment for nearly ten minutes, looking from one room to another as though I were trying to solve a problem much more complicated than choosing a bed. I wanted him to feel comfortable. That was all. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how much that one sentence carried. Karl wasn't coming to visit me for an afternoon. He wasn't staying for a night before returning to his father. He was going to spend an entire week with me, and although I had wanted more time with him for so long, the reality of it frightened me almost as much as it excited me. I walked toward the spare room and opened the door.
