The suspension happened before I had a chance to argue about it. Not that arguing would have changed anything. The board had already made up their minds, and Ezra had made it clear that he'd fought for me every step of the way. Knowing that should have made me feel better, but instead, I felt exhausted.
For the first time since moving to New York, I stayed home on a weekday morning.
Gina had already left for work, insisting there was no point in both of us staying home when I couldn't do anything about the suspension.
The apartment felt strangely quiet without her.
