Chapter 68

1797 Words

Liora’s POV By the time I arrived at Reeve Holdings that morning, I had managed to pull myself together enough that no one looking at me would have guessed I had spent the last part of my morning sitting at the kitchen table with tears running down my face. I had reapplied my makeup, tied my hair back, and reminded myself that I was going to work, not carrying my entire emotional life through the doors with me. Still, every time I thought about Karl asking when I was coming to see him, I felt that same ache beneath my ribs. I had barely settled at my desk when Gina appeared beside me with two coffees in her hands. “I brought you one,” she said, placing it beside my computer. “You looked like you needed it.” I smiled. “Thank you.” She studied my face for a moment. “You okay?” “Yeah.”
