Evelyn remained silent, tears streaming down her face. Despite Samuel's shameless behavior, he was still Yvette's biological father. Did they really have to watch Lyle send him to jail?
"Mom, you can't be soft-hearted! He needs to pay for this!" Yvette exclaimed, her voice sharp with anger. She couldn't allow Samuel to hurt her mother again and again.
Evelyn shook her head, wiping her tears. She felt miserable too; she despised Samuel just as much. But there were things between them that Yvette couldn't know. She had her own reasons.
"Mom!" Yvette's anxiety grew as she struggled to understand her mother's hesitation.
Lyle tugged at Yvette's sleeve gently and shook his head. Then, he turned to Matthew. "You can go back with your team. I'll take care of things here."
