Chapter Five - Who am I?

1803 Words
Dominique's POV For a moment, I stood In the room awestruck. To say I was fascinated by her was more than I could say. Her scent was all over me. In me, around me, it filled the very core of me and I was drowning into her. No it was her eyes. They were the deepest blue I'd ever seen and they were drawing me in. As if draining me of life it self. Her lips....gosh her lips were inviting me in. They were the perfect shade of pink. Ripe for the taking. I wanted her. I had to have her. I wanted to bite into her flesh and taste the very nectar of her skin. I wanted to strip her naked and find the nest between her legs and feed. In fact, I needed to have my way with her. Her presence raised an awareness in me like never before and I felt my manhood pulsating in my pants. My skin itched and suddenly I needed to be naked with her. I felt my desire grow and my wolf growled in anticipation. She looked at me opening her blue eyes wider, mouth shaped into an oh. She felt what I felt and she knew what I knew. The part the completes me, the part that completes her...we had found each other. The electricity oozing between us was like magnet and I felt a sudden pull towards her. My feet moved on their own as my body projected towards its prey. "Mine!" I whispered. ************************************************************************************************************** Heather's POV My throat felt patched and the nagging pain I'd previously felt somehow seemed absent by the presence of this man. I knew that I had to have him. His scent drew me in and every second that passed between us felt like an eternity. I licked my lips as he drew closer and a low rumble escaped his full lips. I was thirsty and it wasn't for water but for the touch of this man. "Mine!" the unfamiliar voice in my head claimed. I felt a sudden urge to brand him mine and as he got closer I felt captivated by astounding beauty. He looked somewhat disheveled but in a sexy kind of way with skin that appeared to be kissed by the sun. He was badly in need of a shave and a strand of his midnight black hair laid across think dark eyebrow prompting my fingers to put it back into place. But what really had me drowning into this man were his eyes. They were so grey that I felt lost into them. Our bodies communicated silently with each other and as he hovered over me I raised my lips in anticipation to meet his. " No alpha she needs to rest!" I heard the petite woman say hurriedly. I had forgotten that she was in the room. She was the first one I had seen when I awoke, stating that her name was nurse Brenda. She had this motherly nature to her and  the man to which she had referred as alpha quickly regained his composure and cleared his throat. It was like a lightening bulb had sudden switched on and he had gotten back to reality. I slowly raised my head down and winced at the gravity of the pain that I suddenly felt. Reality his me and I held my hand to my head. There was a bandage around it and I felt another around my torso. Why? I wondered. I looked up at the nurse with questions in my eyes. " Relax she said. You were brought in here by the alpha." She paused. " You were hurt." The words she said strike confusion in me. I didn't know what she was saying. My mind felt like it was in a fog and any attempts that I made to even think felt like a thousand needles piercing into my head. I cried out in pain causing nurse Brenda and the man called alpha to rush to my side. " Young miss you have to take it easy. I've already called the doctor and he should be here any minute from now." "Can't you give her something for the pain?" Alpha asked. " I can't wait for the doctor. I have questions." "Not until the doctor comes Alpha. I've already checked her vitals but she needs a thorough inspection from the doctor before I can give her anything." I watched as his muscles twitched. What did he want to ask me? He seemed irritated and whatever he wanted to ask me seemed to be really important. I could tell that he was restraining himself. It was evident that he was fond of the nurse and wanted to remain calm for her sake. Before he opened his mouth to say anything else in interjected. "It's okay nurse. Whatever he wants to ask I will answer." He raised a brow and me and wasted no time with his questions. "Who are you and which pack do you belong to." "Huh? pack....um.. my name is Heather and I'm from....from....I...don't know..." I was lost.   I didn't know anything. I didn't have any recollection of my identity. I didn't know who I was. Where was I from? Why couldn't I remember? The reality of it hit me. I didn't remember. And again I felt a sharp pain in my head. I held my breath. Where was I? What was I doing here? Who was I? "Alpha I really think you should stop. Your questions can cause more complications for her health. Please wait for the doctor's advise.. at least then he can give you a better idea as to when you should speak to her." I heard the nurse say in an effort to sway him. But my mind was reeling. Who was I? A thousand needles were being punctured into my mind at every question. Where was I from? I felt like I was in a haze. I needed to get out of there. I needed air. I couldn't breath and I was in excruciating pain. I felt blinded by it all. Who was I? What was I doing her? I didn't know these people.  " What's happening here....why is she like this?" The voices around me sounded muffled. The room was spinning around...who was I? I needed these wires off me. I pulled at the IV in my wrist and the metallic stench of blood hit my nostrils. My attempts to get off the bed proved failing as I felt huge hands touching me coupled by muffled and panicked voices. Sweat made it's way down my brows into my eyes. It burned. "Shhhhhhh.." I heard a soothing voice whisper. "Its going to be okay Heather....just close your eyes.." I felt my eye lids grow heavy and the pain started to numb. I was drifting....flying....the last thing I saw was a wolf, whose eyes pierced into mine ************************************************************************************************************ Dominique's POV I watched as Heather drifted into sleep. I was made at myself. My impatience had caused her to have a panic attack. Dax, my wolf was mad at me. "Your impatience caused our mate pain." he accused. I felt bad for my actions, but it hurt more to see her in pain. I couldn't help it. However, based on her response to my questions, I knew that the reality that I was about to face would prove more complicated for me. Heather didn't know her identity. She didn't know who she was or where she came from. I begun to wonder whether she was being truthful. After all how could she remember her name but not her identity? I wasn't sure what to believe but I was sure that I was about to get some answers, one that I knew the pack doctor was about to give me. He had arrived whilst Heather had gone into panic mode. It was a good thing too because Brenda had seemed helpless. I watched as he reattached the Iv and checked her vitals. After giving Brenda a bit of instruction, he turned to me. "The patient seemed to have had a breakdown. It seems that the questions you directed at her may have caused her a bit of strain. This is because of the trauma she suffered from due to the gun shot wound to her head. " "I thought it was just a flesh wound..." I said. "No exactly...please.." he motioned with his hands towards the door. "Lets talk outside." I stepped out of the door with great anticipation. "So what now doc?" He sighed." The bullet touched the right hemisphere of the patient's brain. Although not deep enough to cause too much damage, the possibility of memory loss was expected. And as I mentioned to you before, there Is a probability of a few abnormalities." I heard the doctor but I was not really listening. I was torn between what he had said and the fact that I may never know the truth about my mate. The tiny thread that now held on to me continuing as the Alpha of this pack suddenly broke before my eyes. I felt stripped of generations of legacies. My ancestors were probably turning in their graves. I felt like a complete failure and there was nothing that I could do about it. Dax whimpered. " We still don't know that yet...lets wait. Our mate needs us." He sounded defeated and I ignored him. I looked up at the doctor. " So what you're saying is she won't regain her memory at all?" "Not exactly. We would have to wait to examine her and find out how much or how far back can she remember. But until then we can't put too much pressure on her. It means that all your questions will have to be placed on hold for now. We need to make sure the patient is of the right frame of mind to answer your questions first." I was at a lost for words. But at least there was a glimmer of hope. And I prayed that that hope would not fail me. "One more thing," the doctor added. " For now it would be best if you didn't visit the patient when she wakes." With that, the Doctor excused himself and left. I stood there, staring at nothing. Exhausted and defeated. I heard Dax whimpering and I felt the aching of my heart. I knew what Dax felt. The doctor had basically asked us to stay away from our mate. In that moment it wasn't just the unanswered questions that bothered me but it was the longing that I suddenly felt. The torture of the distance, the pain of my other half, the knowledge that the woman that was created for me would wake up with the need to see me, but I wouldn't be there. I, Alpha Dominique Perosa had never, in the entirety of my being, felt so hopeless.
