☕ Chapter 12 — RAGE AND RESCUE

317 Words
Luciano Rossi didn’t speak as he stared at the wreckage of Elias’s coffee stand. His silence was more terrifying than any threat. His men stood back, waiting for orders. Elias stood beside him, bruised and shaken, watching the man who had become both captor and protector. “They dared,” Luciano said finally, voice low and lethal. “They dared to touch what’s mine.” Elias flinched. “Luciano—” “They planted a spy. They blew up your stand. They sent a message.” Luciano turned to his men. “Send one back.” Elias stepped forward. “No. Not like this.” Luciano’s eyes narrowed. “You think mercy is strength?” “I think restraint is,” Elias said. “You don’t need to prove anything. You’re already feared.” Luciano’s jaw clenched. “This isn’t about fear. It’s about loyalty. They broke the pact.” Elias grabbed his arm. “And if you become what they are? What’s left of you?” Luciano stared at him — truly stared. Elias’s grip was firm, his gaze unwavering. For the first time, someone was pulling him back from the edge. Luciano exhaled. “You’re the only one who speaks to me like that.” “Maybe because I’m not afraid of you anymore.” Luciano’s lips twitched. “You should be.” “But I’m not.” Luciano turned to his men. “Stand down. For now.” They hesitated, then obeyed. Elias stepped closer. “You saved me from the fire. Let me save you from this.” Luciano looked at him — not as a subordinate, not as a debt. But as a man. Equal. Necessary. “You’re dangerous,” he said. Elias smiled. “So are you.” And in that moment, the balance shifted. Elias wasn’t just someone Luciano protected. He was someone who could protect Luciano — from himself.
