CHAPTER SIXTEEN Delfi shuddered in the bed. She looked around the bedroom of her sister-in-law’s apartment as though seeing it for the first time. It was the same as when she had left it, but she wasn’t. When she had run back, stumbling and looking over her shoulder, she bolted the door behind her and had gone straight to the bed, tugging her clothes off and pulling on her most comfortable pyjamas that she had kept since she was a girl. The fabric was worn, and the fleece was pilling but it provided the comfort of the known, of her mother and her father, of her home on Skosias where she had been loved and had felt safe, and where she had dreamed of becoming a famous actress.
