Teal and I tore the bedsheet into strips about the width of a palm. First, we used the discarded sheet that Teal had secretly taken to wrap Bayne like a mummy, then used the strips to securely bind him to Thomas. I gave the ropes a couple of hard tugs. “It’s secure. Thomas, how does it feel?” Thomas walked back and forth across the attic, carrying the body on his back, then nodded at me. “No problem. Let’s begin.” Meanwhile, Teal had already twisted the strips into a rope, tying one end to the base of the only wardrobe in the attic, then tossing the other end out the window, down toward the ground below. She leaned out to check the situation below and then turned back to me. “Your Highness, it’s ready.” With Bayne on his back, Thomas jumped onto the balcony like a long-armed gorilla
