Chapter Ten A Date WithJack Seacroft The phone is ringing off the hook as I enter the house. Danny St. Regis from Ashford Glen. I’ve been waiting for his call all day and to think I almost missed it, running around the yard chasing Poochie, the Cocker Spaniel I inherited from Ben. He plays this game like it’s great fun. Thank God, he was running toward the house when the phone started ringing. We slipped inside before my voicemail picked up. “I have lots of news for you, Tarin,” Danny tells me, sounding out of breath. “Oh, God, I can’t wait.” “I’m afraid you’ll have to. I have to catch a plane from Boston, I’m at the airport right now. Emergency with another case. It really can’t be helped.” I hear the sincerity in his voice, but that hardly assuages my need to know what he knows. “C
