The drive away from the motel feels like a transition, the last vestiges of the familiar woods slowly giving way to something completely alien. For what feels like hours, Lior is glued to his phone, his voice a low murmur as he speaks in a language that’s a rapid-fire string of sounds I can’t decipher. It’s definitely not the English spoken in Lunaris, if it's even English at all. Finally, during a brief lull in his calls, I gather the courage to ask. “What language were you speaking just now?” He glances at me, a charming smile gracing his lips. “Oh, just one of the human languages.
