Chapter 04- Her Doubt

1037 Words
I knocked on my bedroom door. This is why I hate talking to women. Apart from my sister, then no one has ever dared to refute my words. "Hey, bro! What's with that wrinkled face of yours? I thought you went to see Hailey!" said Alex. I cringed when Alex said the woman's name. That a few hours had just happened. Hailey, known as the nerd in college, became my mate. She's a clumsy girl who only spends her time in the library rather than hanging out with many girls. "I found her working at the bar!" I said. he quickly realized when the sparkling water was already splattered on the floor. "Oh s**t! Wait…" He tossed the beer can into the trash can and wiped the remaining beer water with a tissue. "Who do you mean? The nerd? Oh sorry, I mean Hailey? That girl? How could it be?" "Yeah, I asked her to come with me, and she refused. Her eyes flashed fear, but what made me hate it even more? Damn, I love her," I said, frustrated. Alex shook his head. "Is it that bad? Oh man, you're all grown up now. Big trouble never came your way; now you have a problem! You made the rules of the moon goddess fall apart. Your mate is a human, and even worse, the wolf bead is inside her body." Alex gave a more detailed explanation of how serious the situation I was in right now was. I've spent the remaining time; only a few more rogue souls left to fill the wolf bead, then I'll be free from this cursed seal. "Bastian, you know it's dangerous for Hailey, right? her scent will attract many Rogues, deviants, traitors and even wolf demons. She is the mate of an Alpha heir with a legendary lineage like you. Everyone will want her soul!" said Alex. I clenched my fists in annoyance; my chest suddenly hurt while thinking restlessly. There was a sting in my ribs, radiating down my spine. "Our mates are in danger! Save her Bastian" said my wolf. "I know!" I'm sick of it. It was easy for me to find Hailey's whereabouts. I was the one who inhaled the different scent from her body. At my speed, I headed straight for the alley through the night. The eyes of the humans won't be able to look at me. I found a hungry rogue about to pounce on my mate. It was easy for me to kill that rogue; I was showing all the things Hailey could be too horrifying for her to witness. I eradicated the Rogue in one giggle. Then, as soon as I glanced back at Hailey, her eyes slowly closed, and she lost consciousness. Of all the women in this world, why should I have such a weak and low-key mate like her? I brought Hailey to my house and laid her down on my bed. Alex had protested, but I had no choice. I'm too nervous about letting Hailey out on the streets, especially since she's my half-soul who's about to become Luna. I waited until the following day; I didn't even sleep. Something hard hit my head from behind as I stood by the window enjoying the sunshine. Glass shards scattered on the floor; I looked back. Hailey stood with one shard of glass in her hand. "Oh damn crazy! Did you hit Bastian's head with a glass vase? Hailey?" Alex opened the bedroom door because he heard broken glass. I feel no pain at all, no wound on my head. My eyes only fell on Hailey's fingers, tightly gripping the glass side, and blood slowly flowed from her hands. Her lips were pale, and her eyes flashed a light I had never seen before. "I've witnessed horrors that, even at this very moment, become a deadly memory for my feelings. I am only filled with insults and ridicule as long as I live. No one even dares to approach me because they think I am a cursed girl," said Hailey. "Hailey put down the broken glass first! If you want to talk, talk! Why do you have to hold on to such a sharp object?" said Alex. "Alex, shut up!" I asked because I didn't want my focus to be diverted. "Who are you, huh? I've seen you kill men twice, Bastian! No, that guy isn't human, right? Who are you guys really? If you dare touch me, I will attack you," she said with shaking hands. I took a deep breath; the situation would get even more complicated. My wolf cheers that he's so happy to meet our mate, but I'm the one who's more nervous because it seems Hailey's mentally disturbed a bit. "How can I explain if you just can't calm down? Try to relax, and I will explain everything," I said the sentence firmly. I don't know how to be gentle with a woman. Hailey sighed, lifted her chest, and I accidentally saw the soft circle on her chest moving. Unlucky! I can't hold my heat for too long. I'm so excited to mark Hailey and make her my woman immediately. "Okay, how will you explain all that to me, Bastian? The man, the terrible face, then the terrible words you said to me. Why would I die, huh? Who are you too may decide my life and death?" Hailey was still in a rush of emotions. She gripped the broken glass tighter without realizing it because of the anxiety that was in her. I can feel the pain she feels. Like the wind, I missed her, pushing her fingers through the shards of glass, and I hugged her tightly. I can't say she is a stranger in my life. Hailey is my life and death lover. Half of my soul is in Hailey. I'm not good with sweet words, so all I need to give is a warmth to calm him down. "Can you calm down for a moment? I will show you all the parts, from the simple, to the worst in front of you. My question is, will you be able to survive after knowing all that?" I said, with my doubts.
