Chapter 9 Moonlight Dance

Our music class easily passed because of the boring lecture of our professor. I didn’t enjoy them since Scarlet wasn’t around but the good thing about today, I managed to give my homemade meal to her as well to my friends. Everything seems came back to what it used to be apart from the changes that I’m feeling inside of me. Just recalling that made my body shivered like someone was watching me then again, a shadow flashes with a loving smile to me. I slapped myself mentally since I’m with Alwen and Zane. I was lost in my thoughts to the point I couldn’t hear what they were bubbling about.

“Sorry, I didn’t catch that.” I told them honestly that made them looked at me in disbelief.

“That’s new.” Zane said with curious tone since I never been like this before.

“Is it because of Scarlet?” Alwen guessed the reason about my changes and it pissed me off.

“Why you think that she does?” I countered her with my pissed tone that never escape from their sensitive ears.

“Well because since she came here and claiming that your mates, you’ve changed. I mean a lot.” Alwen frankly answered me that made me glared at her.

“Eliz clam down. Alwen just saying what she observed around you and I agreed to that.” Zane calmly said that made me looked so disappointed to them.

“I changed not because of her. I change because there’s something about me that -” I reasoned to them but I heard something from afar.

I slightly tilted my head to my right like I was listening into something and I heard it; a panting heartbeat. Then I looked at my friends with a worried face before I wrapped my arms around their neck.

“I...I’ll tell you but not now. Someone was spying on me.” I whispered to them in such a low voice that I almost not opened my mouth.

When I distanced myself from them, I tried to cover my worries with a smile before putting my things to my locker and pulling them along with me. It was seriously disturbing and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’ve been watched. When we reached the parking lot, another shadow flashes and it was standing were our car parked. I don’t know what came into me but I know I will be safe with that shadow. I run to our car and the shadow vanished as Seth came into the view. I hugged him immediately and I can tell he was surprised by it but my hugged tightened.

“Seth, respond. Someone is watching me.” I whispered that he exactly returned my hug as I can feel some jealousy from Alwen. But I couldn’t care any less right now.

“Don’t worry you’re safe. Let’s pretend that we’re a thing but first, I have to explain it to her since she was totally in jelly mode.” Seth whispered while we’re both hugging like we missed each other but heck no. I guess?

I don’t know but around Seth, I felt being protected all of the sudden like I’ve known him from somewhere in a long time ago. But it’s not the right time to deal with it.

I slightly laughed as I distanced myself from the hug that we’ve intentionally shared. Then he kissed my left cheek before opening the front seat for me and then passenger seat for my friends. Inside the car, I can tell my friends were confused over the sudden sweet gesture between me and Seth. Along the way home, Seth took the liberty to break the tension that was building inside the car plus he’s the one who’s driving us home.

“Gosh, I want to rip those eyes.” Seth suddenly said in his pissed tone.

“Same here! I couldn’t let them see what my changes are. Scarlet told me that I should learn how to control it.” I honestly told him not even minding that my friends were listening to the back seat.

“She’s really does worry about you since she met you when you were still 5.” Seth chuckled till I caught him said my exact age when I met her.

“You knew?” I asked him directly with such shocked into my tone as well on my face.

“Of course. When she returns to our house from the hunting and she started babbling that she found her mate along in the woods. She also said that her mate was a kid and belong to a pack though she was a human. So, since that night, we were appointed to watch you but most likely it was me. I was the one who’ve been reporting to her especially now that I’m with your pack.” Seth chuckled as he recalled Scarlet’s reaction back then that I hope I’ll encounter soon.

“She’s so careful whenever it comes to you, Eliz…” Seth said with his smiles slowly fading into serious one

“I just hope... she’s not you...” Seth whispered like he doesn’t want me to hear them but I did.

“What do you mean by that?” I asked that made him jolted a bit before sighing like he was thinking some kind of alibi.

“Ahmm…we’re rogues. Being broken once again...well I don’t know to her if she could pull it off but to me and the others, we can’t. That’s why if found our second half who wouldn’t reject us, we’ll be possessive since we don’t want to face it again. We rather die.” Seth answered with blank face since he made an excuse.

I just let it go before I looked at the back to see the reaction of Alwen and she just arched her right eyebrow at me but I knew she was sad hearing those from her mate.

“By the way Seth, did she mention anything about moonlight dance?” I asked that made him hit the break big time and good timing we’re at the pack’s territory.

“SETH!” Alwen shouted that made him looked apologetic to her before meeting me.

“To rogue language, it's not just about having s*x or making love but it was also a ritual.” Seth answered in worried face while staring at me.

“Ritual?” I asked since I seriously don't know anything about wolves lives. I’m just learning them now.

“Yes, but I couldn’t explain further since we’re already here.” Seth sighed before relaxing at the driver seat.

“I wanted to know.” I pouted that made him looked back at Alwen who seemed don't care if he agreed with me.

Seth sighed before looking at me once again.

“After dinner, let’s go for some run.” Seth smiled that made me hugged him tightly and this time Alwen finally snapped as she growled at me.

Seth and I laughed at her sudden burst but Seth immediately unbuckled his seatbelt before opening the back seat just to kissed Alwen’s lips. Alwen was surprised but eventually gave in. I bet she wants more of it. They’re mates after all so, what do you expect.

Anyway, I forced Alwen to take some sleep over since there are a lot of things I need to explain. Both of my friends deserved to know about it. As we entered the house, we were being welcomed by a loud voice of a crying baby and it won’t stop even my parents were there. We all rushed to the kitchen and we’re surprised that the baby was making its tantrum.

“Zachary, you’re indeed like your sister.” Mom sighed as she tried to coo him but still it done nothing; it only just made him cry even more.

I sighed but I went to them and kiss my parents before taking him into my arms.

“Hary, didn’t I told you not to cause our parents so much hard time.” I calmly cooed him while in my arms and he did listen to me.

“He really listen to you.” Dad chuckled as he finally took a seat before drinking his cold coffee.

“You were like Zachary when you were born. Only your father can calm you down.” Mom said as she also took her seat next Dad.

“I see and maybe I’ve got those traits from him.” I said while playing with my little brother.

“Maybe.” Mom agreed as she held father’s hand.

When Zachary calmed down and kept playing on my hair, I asked my parents if Alwen could sleep over and they both agreed that it was okay. Then we help out my parents on preparing our dinner since the second Beta along with her family finally came home from long business travel. We prepared a bunch of food and we ate a lot. The dinner was fun since we’ve received some treats from their travels then we excuse ourselves since we’re going to have some girls fun.

In my room, Alwen immediately jumped onto my room while Zane went first to her room downstairs since we’re both living under one roof.

“Alwen, sorry about earlier.” I apologized to her out of the blue.

“Do you mean about hugging him?” Alwen made sure that we’re talking about was the same person.

“Yes. Also I have to tell you about something that no one should know.” I told her as I began to change my clothes.

“Okay but let’s wait Zane, you know her.” Alwen responded calmly and sweet.

“You’re right about that. So, I’m sorry.” I said that made her sighed while smiling.

“Come here.” She called that made me snuggled myself into her that made my door opened at the same time.

“Finally made amends?” Zane teased us before joining us into my king sized bed.

We’re just lying on the bed when Zane recalled a movie that she borrowed from her sister. We watched the movie first before Alwen nudged my sides since I was in their middle.

“Fine, Zane, Alwen. I’m changing into some wolfy thing...I think.” I frankly said that made them looked at me blankly.

“You’re kidding right?” Zane asked in disbelief.

“I don’t know but I’m became sensitive in some ways.” I sighed as I thought they wouldn’t believe me at this one.

“Well, it's not we don’t believe on you but you’re human and -” Alwen was saying something when someone cut her off.

“Sorry, did I interrupt something?” Seth asked when he knocked on my balcony window.

I let him in and Alwen was glaring at him but he just shook his head before pulling me into his arms. Zane was surprised and Alwen was a bit in furious state.

“They can hear you.” Seth said loud enough for my friends to hear.

“And now they can’t?” I asked in such wondered since wolves have sensitive hearing.

“That’s my ability.” Seth smirked as he took as seat next to Alwen who slowly calming.

“I see, shall we stay here or run?” I asked him but he loves staying like that with Alwen.

I shook my head while smiling since Alwen was leaning to Seth’s shoulder. Zane noticed it as well that made us teased her but knowing Alwen, she threw some pillows at us that we just giggled. Seth loves what he was seeing toward his mate that made him pulled into his arms just to calm her.

“Let’s begin.” Seth cut us from having fun on teasing his mate.

We started to listen to Seth’s explanation about the conversation we had at the car before.

“Before I also didn’t know what the meaning of the ‘moonlight dance’ since I never heard of it till I met Scarlet. She told us that the moonlight dance was a sacred ritual between soon to be mates and it was only applied if both parties agreed to be on the same page.” Seth began his explanation.

“What do you mean about agreeing on the same page?” Zane asked carefully for me.

“Well, it’s about accepting everything about your mates. Scarlet bestows it to us since we’re rogues and only the five of us has it.” Seth answered Zane while he soothes Alwen’s arms.

“Continue please.” I said with such eagerness that made Seth chuckled.

“Okay, when both parties were on the same page, they could perform the moonlight dance. In the moonlight dance it wasn’t just about making love to your mate but also fighting for dominance. Since Eliz was a human, Scarlet must do something daring to lure out the wolf side resting in you.” Seth continued as he kept his gaze fixed on me while his caressing Alwen's arm.

“Resting in me?” I asked curiously since I'm just a human being in the first place.

“Your ability to adopt and Scarlet felt that it was getting stronger that why you can’t calm down with her next to you. Plus Scarlet was close to the Moon Goddess that’s why she’s exception and trouble always hunting her.” Seth explained that made me nervous since the lasting stuck into my mind was making love with her.

I can even imagine her naked in front of me but I was cut off from my thoughts when I hear her voice so loud and clear.

“Did you hear that?” I asked them but none of them knew what was I’m talking about.

“Scarlet. She can hear your thoughts and seems like you can hear hers.” Seth told me that made me pouted.

“Where is she then?” I asked Seth but he just chuckled.

“Close your eyes and sleep. You’ll meet her at your moonlight dance.” Seth grinned at me from ear to ear.

“So it’s in a dream?” Alwen asked her mate who just nodded.

“Something like that.” Seth replied before looking at me.

I sighed then laid down and I saw them again. Those shadows watching me carefully and I was about to ask them why they looked sad until the dream immediately took my consciousness. Then I’m out. I’m already sleeping.
