Chapter 10: Let’s Dance

In one dark place in my dream, I wandered aimlessly until I heard a faint but familiar voice that made me look for it. I kept following the voice that kept calling my name then another flash of some memories that I don’t know if I own them. It might be blurred but deep within my heart, I knew them very clearly then suddenly a bright light began to flash to my eyes. The bright light blinded me and when it finally subsided, a perfect faces of the moon in one starry night amazed me. It felt like I was in a different world. But the thing that caught my attention was the lady of the night which they called moon goddess, Selene. She’s gliding beautifully as she descent from the moon itself and she’s not in the form of the huge wolf that I met before.

‘Come closer my child. Don’t be afraid. I am me and still the same wolf you’ve met before.’

Her voice was alluring and I made a cautious step toward her. She’s indeed stunning until felt some intense eyes looking at me. When I look passed through the goddess’ back, I saw a big but wounded snow white wolf.

‘That’s your rogue mate in wolf form. She’s been in pain till she met you. It’s your choice to stay and be with her or leave her be and never turn your way to the wolves.’

I was caught up to the last part she said that if I choose not to be with her, I can no longer interact to the business of the wolves even I’m member of the pack.

I don't want that. They’re my family.

I looked once again to the wolf behind her and tried to reach the wolf but it began to growl at me like it doesn’t want me to near it. Every step I made, the wolf kept growling at me and it reached my nerves. I’m pissed.

“f**k OFF! COME HERE OR I LEAVE YOU FOR GOOD, IF THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT, SCARLET!” I snapped at the wolf that suddenly jolted from my roar. I was pissed off so, what do you expect.

I was about to turn my heels back away from the wolf but it launches on me. I fell onto my butt as the wolf snuggled itself to me like it doesn’t like the idea of me leaving her for good. Well, I don’t intend to do that anyway. I chuckled before cupping its face to meet mine.

“I love you not just because I’m your mate but because you care so much about me that made me feel so protected. Just being with you made felt so complete, so tell me, why would I let go of you?” I honestly told the wolf what I’m feeling for both Scarlet and her wolf.

‘I told you she’s perfect match for you. So, let’s begin the moonlight dance.’

When the goddess said that, the moonlight at night sky began to glow like it never did before. It was like bright stars that were twinkling as Christmas lights but I noticed that there were dark clouds forming around the moon that I hope it won’t rain now. I sighed mentally but smiled to what I’m seeing before my eyes since the wolf shifted into the beautiful naked Scarlet.

“Not ashamed of your body?” I teased her which serious making me feel a bit uneasy since she was indeed beautiful and hot.

“Nope because it was you, I’m with.” Scarlet replied directly to me that made chuckled even my face was obviously tomato from embarrassment.

“Let’s have a date around here as I teach you things about wolves.” Scarlet invited that made nodded eagerly and it made her smiled before shifting once again into her wolf form so I could ride on its back.

She ran so fast but not too much to the point I’ll fall down. At first, I was nervous and fear was getting into my nerves until I felt the wind brushing through my skin. The fear in my chest finally settled down and made me looked up ahead of us. It was very dazzling and magical as we kept running aimlessly through the night. Dark places supposed to be frightening to me but not to night. I was excited and happy.

“Scarlet, thank you.” I whispered to the wind that made her ear twitched and moved even faster like she was happy that I am.

I don’t know how I can tell what she was feeling. It maybe came to my mind but since I’ve always can tell what she’s feeling, I couldn’t call it anymore just a mere coincidence. It’s real. I am indeed her mate.

When she halted from running, I went down so I could hug her as well to meet her gaze.

‘Can you hear me now, Eliz?’

I was surprised when I heard her voice inside my thoughts and this time, it was so clear like a crystal. I smiled before I hugged her once again. It seems like that I love her much more being in the wolf form. She’s so fluffy.

‘You know I can hear those loud thoughts of yours.’

“Then don’t listen.” I chuckled as I felt embarrassed about it.

‘Can’t help it. You’re my mate. I feel what you feel and can hear what you can.’

“Am I the same?” I asked curiously since it will be unfair if this was one sided.

‘Of course you will if we make love and I marked you.’

“Mark? Like a tattoo?” I wondered if my thought was right.

‘Yes, my love.’

“Can I mark you as well?” I asked since I want to bite back if she’ll do that.

‘Well, you can if the let you do the same.’

I pouted that made her licked my cheeks. I pulled her into my arms since I came to love her fluffy fur. She chuckled to my gesture that made her laid down so I could snuggle even more. We were lying on the grassy field near the clear river when the moon goddess showed up once again.

‘Second pace of the moonlight dance shall begin.’

I was puzzled that made me look at Scarlet’s wolf form that was stiff and radiating in so much heat. Her heat wasn’t lust but rage. I stood up and looked frightened but worried about her situation. She let a deep growled at me and I jolted.

“Scarlet...what’s happening?” I asked through my mind that made her shook her head like she doesn’t want to listen to me or she could be arguing to herself. Maybe.

I shook away everything I’m feeling since we’re stood apart from each other like we both waiting who was going to make its first move. I closed my eyes and relaxed my tension body since I don’t like the idea of what was happening right now. I am her prey and I must twist things up. I must survive and reach her. I must be equal to her. I am maybe a human but there was something about humans that monster attracted to.

Adaptation capacity.

Acceptance.

‘Begin.’

As the moon goddess spoke, Scarlet’s wolf form began to charge like it wasn’t thinking straight. I dodged and moved quickly as I can. I run in such adrenaline and I know the feeling of being chased but to me I’m not running away from it but plotting something. Something flashed into my mind that I need to go to the woods and climb up to the trees. Not just to hide but think of how to counter a raging rogue wolf’s attack.

Huntress.

As that word suddenly flashed into my mind, I immediately look for some suitable branch. Some expandable vines and pointed rock. I made a bow, few arrows and a stone knife before hiding myself up in the trees. As my survival instincts are kicking in, I centered myself to hide my presence while hiding and waiting patiently for my time to attack. Just few seconds passed, a shadow of a wolf flashed like it was telling me that somebody was coming and then, Scarlet showed up. She roared and one released of an arrow startled her but just a blink of an eye, another arrow pierced her stomach that made her whimpered.  Then another shot to her legs to make her limped.

‘Done.’

When the moon goddess voice echoed, everything began to dissolve except for us. She went closer to us then petted Scarlet’s wolf form but when her eyes met mine, I was lost. She was staring at me like there was something lying hidden deep within me and I shivered. She smiled before cupping my face by her delicate hands and kissed my lips. I was beyond shocked but I didn’t push her away since I felt something was indeed getting inside of me. It was warm and cold or life and death but behind those feelings it was also sweet. As she let me go, she looked at me carefully like she was looking for someone else before she gave a nod and smiled at me for some odd reason. Then, she turns her heels to face Scarlet.

‘She’s a very fine mate. Don’t ruin it.’

It confused me like there was something was about to happen. I shook the feeling since I don’t want her to worry about some trivial thing, so I just kept it deeply in me. I watched Scarlet nodded to what the goddess had said then vanished before she approached me. I raised my hand since there was something in me that was burning and it’s not good.

“What did she do to me?” I asked her directly that made her looked so worried at me.

‘Power.’

When she said that, my eyes widen and my body began to radiate in such flame. I couldn’t hold it anymore. I need her.

‘I’ll be right there, my love. Wait for me.’

“Hurry.” I groaned in pain as the heat was eating me alive.

I don’t know what was going on but I want her near me. I wanted to be cloak by her embrace but when this shadow showed up and touched my forehead, I’m not in pain anymore.
