Chapter 6: Small Home

2456 Words
After we hung out at the garden, I watched the backs of my friends as well with the new ones with Scarlet as they walked ahead of me. I felt so happy seeing them getting along but my feet won’t let me be with them. It felt like there was something pulling me back at the garden and it doesn’t want me to leave. Then my weakness began to surface. I wanted to call out to them yet no words would dare to come out from my lips. It’s getting into me but there was something different from earlier. Before, I could feel the panic reaching into me but not this time. I was beyond pissed and I wanted to break free from this binding threat swirling around me.   “I HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!” I screamed that made my friends snapped back at me and I don’t know the heat of my body was really like a fire.   I can see that my friends were about to come to me but Scarlet stopped them. They didn’t like her gesture but Scarlet, she was so sure that I could manage. I can feel it from her.   “Trust her.” Scarlet said and I don't know how I managed to hear that one even if they were only a few feet away from me.   I closed my eyes like I tried to calm myself but not. I did not want to be calmed right now instead I snapped and when I opened my eyes, they were immediately on their knees. They were being forced to kneel before me while Scarlet, I can tell that she was fighting back because she was shaking yet still standing on her ground. I watched her carefully then my eyes meet her face and she likes what she was witnessing around me. She felt challenged but amazed. Slowly the feeling that was binding me to stay here was finally subsiding. I heard some invisible chains began to snap around that really made me felt so alive and relief then I moved.   “I hate being tight down like that.” I groaned as I complained when I reached them. “H-how did you do that?” Zane stuttered while panting as well the others apart from Scarlet who suddenly wrapped her arms around me. “Scarlet, she’s a…” Anthonette coughed as she tried to catch her breath as I studied her then Scarlet.   Scarlet didn’t say anything and she was proud about that. But behind those proudness façade, I can feel that she’s frightened at the same time.   “Eliz?” Alwen asked that snapped me from my daze before shaking my head since I really don’t understand what just happened or what I did. It’s confusing my brain. “I told you, you’re a fine wolf.” Scarlet said proudly that made my besties confused. “Oh, favor Zane and Alwen, please trained her with or without her father's consent since she needs them now.” Scarlet told them that made me wondered what she meant. “Scarlet meant that you need to train your inner wolf.” Ally explained that made us shocked especially me. “I’m human.” I told them but these rogues just smiled at me as Scarlet let go of my waist. “Yes you were but not now.” Scarlet said while walking ahead of us.   The three of us were shocked that made Alwen looked at Seth for further explanation. Seth sighed like he was cornered to explain things that he doesn’t want to do. But Alwen was his mate, he couldn’t say no to her.   “I’ll explain somewhere quiet and peaceful.” Seth sighed in his defeat tone before walking as well. “To our house.” Ally excitedly said as she linked her arms around Alwen. “Then Edrico and I must buy something decent to eat.” Anthonette chuckled as she held Edrico’s hand since they were mates, I think.   By the parking lot, Edrico and Anthonette took their car since they have to make some groceries while Scarlet along with Ally; they come with us with my car. I was driving while Scarlet was next to me as my guide to their house while at the back, there were Zane, Alwen, Seth and Ally. On our way to their house, it was definitely a quiet one until some giggles turned into laughter and I can tell they came from Zane and Ally. Both of them were teasing the couple who were sitting in between them.   “You two knock it off, Alwen has a wrong switch.” I warned the two of them but knowing Zane, she won't give up until Alwen snapped. “But I think the wrong button was on Seth.” Scarlet chuckled and there I felt something was radiating hot temper.   I wanted to look back but I didn’t since Seth let a low growl like he swallowed it that made me figured out what Scarlet meant. They were laughing at him but as I glanced to rear mirror, I was smirking when I saw Alwen smiling. That was new. I know that I’m the driver but I didn’t realize that we’re already at the same dirty and bumpy road in the woods. It was definitely like what we had on the pack until Scarlet speaks.   “Okay, stop right there by the corner.” Scarlet said and we’re awe since it was typical cozy cabin house. “I thought your house was big like modernized house.” Zane said disappointedly that made Scarlet chuckled. “It’s more modern rustic inside. C’mon let me show you.” Ally said excitedly to Zane who come along with her.   As we followed them entered the house, we were welcomed by such clean and tidy open floor plan like there was no one living in here. Seth went to the kitchen on the left side from the door to get us something to drink. I slightly took a peek and they do have L shape counter space and a small prep island with breakfast table. Then a round dining set with six chairs for their dining area and like Ally said it’s a modern rustic. On the right side, we took our seats on the comfy L shaped couch with a wood carved coffee table in between the TV set cabinet and the couch. This place was indeed a cozy house. Ally immediately went up to her room to change. As for Scarlet, she vanished? I didn’t see her come inside with us. I was uneasy but good thing Seth came with a tray of water. We chilled there as we waited for Anthonette and Edrico arrive. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that was building inside of me. Something was wrong with me, I guess…   “If you were wondering where she is, try to check her on the top floor corner dead end.” Seth said to me while smirking and I almost choked the water that I’m drinking.   I didn’t say anything since I was indeed looking for her so, I just do what he told me and went off upstairs. I almost bumped into Ally when she came into the view with her casual clothing before running off to the living area. She looked like a kid as she dashed off like that. Anyway, I went back on my track to go to the very end of this floor and to see where she could be hiding. When I reached a dead end room, I immediately knocked but no one answered and when I tried to open it, I was a bit shocked that it was unlocked. I entered the room with curiosity moving around my mind as I looked around the room. The room was like it was untouched aside from the study table until I was cut off by the wind chime began to ring. I looked at the balcony and there I saw something I think I shouldn’t be seeing.   “Surprised to the view?” Scarlet asked out of the blue that gave me a bit of a fright. “You can see our pack from here.” I told her before glaring at her. “Wait, don’t jump into conclusion without hearing me out.” Scarlet said as she sat at her bed while I watched her carefully like I was suspecting her for something.   Though, I didn’t what to suspect from her.   “This is my previous home before even your pack came into this town. Longford own this town a long time ago but since some uprising came, the whole family of Longford vanished from the list of wolves. None of them know I survived.” Scarlet began to explain her side. “I didn’t even dare to speak about it to anyone. Well, apart from you but not entirely.” She chuckled. “I noticed.” I sighed as I took my seat by the study table chair. “I see. Anyway, I traveled a lot before with someone until something wasn’t right and left them. I don’t trust anyone so easily till I met those rogues and they tagged along with me. Since they can’t keep up with me, I trained them harder than the ordinary packs out there. We’re only five but were strong enough to bring anyone in despair and we don't do it unless they ask for it. We might just limited but the five of us were enough to make this house into a home.” Scarlet continued as I felt her honesty and sincerity along with her voice that made looked deeply into her eyes.   Seriously, each time I looked deeply into her eyes, I saw a very beautiful huge white wolf with piercing icy blue eyes like she does have.   “You can see my wolf side, aren’t you?” She asked me out of the blue that made me snapped from looking at her eyes. “You could say that.” I just said to her since I was cornered and I don’t know what to say anymore. “Soon, you’ll be able to touch it but tonight let's have some pasta since they’re already here.” She said like she knew when it's going to happen. “Oh, I better to tell my Dad.” I said as I get my phone from my side pocket. “Its okay, I already told him. So, let’s go?” She said that made me think for a sec then nodded before we both headed down stairs. She was right; Anthonette and Edrico were already preparing our dinner.   We ate our dinner with fun conversation and it made me feel so warm. They were like a family and not just a pack. After dinner, everyone decided to play a board game with punishment of saying truth. I want to play with them but Scarlet took my hand so we could stroll and talk as well. They might be small for two floored house but it was definitely a homey feeling. I was feeling secure since Scarlet was still holding my hand and I love the feeling of being with her. If only it could be 24/7, why not. Well, it's just wishful thinking.   “Eliz, let me tell you about something.” Scarlet finally spoke as were at the backyard. “What is it then?” I asked that made her hold me around my waist before carrying me like a bride.   I was surprised to what she did till she jumped from there to the roof of their house. I was panting and she was laughing. I slapped her shoulder as I pouted but deep inside I like to see this side of her more often and just around me.   “Why you take me here?” I asked her that made her laughter fades then she took a seat as I did the same. “I want to be honest and frank to you about something. It might be confusing when you hear it but I hope you’ll try to understand it.” She answered with such serious tone but calm. “Silver you’re scaring me.” I honestly told her since I don't get what she was trying to say. “Silver huh…” She smirked when she heard me called her second name. “Sorry, you don't want to be called like that?” I apologized immediately but she chuckled. “No, it's not that. It's been years since someone called me Silver.” She said before looking at me.   We looked into each other's eyes and I can see the wolf again but Scarlet snapped her head away from our staring contest.   “Anyway about your ability to adopt things around you, it was like waking up from deep sleep. So, if ever something happens to make you feel something really not entirely you, seek aid from your father or me.” Scarlet seriously said as she gone back to our main topic. “Why is that? Is it dangerous?” I asked her since she made it sound delicate one. “Probably. Well, I don't know exactly but since you’re having strange feelings especially when you can tell what a person's intentions are, it seems you need guidance or proper training to understand them well.” She shrugged her shoulders before looking up through the night sky. “Is that normal for a human to be aware of its surroundings?” I asked her since humans also have guts that were kicking toward a person or some scenery. “Yes but in your case it’s different. It could be like that but being surrounded by wolves and having a mate like me, it's possible that it was different from you think it is.” She honestly told me that I sighed. “So let just say that you’re right, what do you want me to do about it? I mean, how can I train myself if I don't know what proper training should I do.” I asked as if it did happen to me. “Clever question, Eliz.” She praised that made me blush in instant. “Well, if your father did not believe what was happening, you can isolate yourself so you can meditate or you can look for me. I’ll be the one who’ll teach you.” She firmly said to me while smiling that made do the same. There was a bit of silence between us since both of us watching the night sky but as my eyes were glued to the crescent moon, I felt some uneasiness in me.   “But what if you’re not around?” I asked her out of the blue while my eyes were still staring at the moon. “I don’t know, but for now, I can say that I will.” Scarlet honestly replied to me since there’s no guarantee what it will happen the next day. “Okay, I hope it wasn’t that dangerous one.” I sighed before smiling again. “You’ll be fine.” She assured to me as she pulled me into her arms while we both watch the night sky. “I hope so.” I sighed that made her chuckled then she kissed my forehead so deep like she was leaving a mark on it.   Scarlet looked at me then stood up.   “It’s time to get you home.” Scarlet said that made me look at my cell phone watch and it was already 8 pass. “Oh! Yeah, we better to going.” I said with worry tone that made Scarlet chuckled as she picked me up again like a bride before jumping back to the backyard.
