PASCAL I had expected her to break. Most women did, when faced with silence. The contract, the coldness, the distance... it was usually enough to remind them of the limits. But Kendra wasn’t most women. She sat there in her robe, shoulders stiff, fingers wrapped tight around the coffee cup, her jaw set like she was daring me to push her further. And yet… she was flustered. I could see it in the way her eyes darted away, in the faint flush on her cheeks that crept higher each time I addressed her.
