CHAPTER THIRTEEN Kendra The ride home was quiet. Pascal didn’t speak after his last words in the car, and I didn’t trust myself to. The city lights flickered across his face through the tinted window. He looked deep in thought, but I couldn’t tell if those thoughts included me. When the car pulled into the long, curved driveway of the mansion, the headlights cut across the tall hedges, the fountain glimmering faintly in the moonlight. The house loomed ahead.
