Sophia POV I wake up with a pounding headache. s**t!! I curse holding my head I look outside and it seems like it's morning but it's still pretty dark, I look down at my phone which is now 1% it's currently 5 am I nod to myself ready for a new day, I’m gonna find myself a job. I head upstairs to take an extremely cold bath, I wrap myself with a towel and then move to the sink to wash my white shirt leaving it to dry in the bathroom I head to my room that I did not end up sleeping in after cleaning it up, I put on the same blue jeans from yesterday sniffing it first it still smells great and what won't perfume fix and no I did not steal the perfume it was a birthday present from john on our 6 months anniversary. I find one of my black T-shirts, wearing my underwear then my clothes, I look in the mirror I don't look too shabby apart from the bags under my eyes, I look down at my tan skin my black long hair my green eyes and my nose which is not so straight anymore from being punched a little bit too much I bit my pink plump lips, I swear am gorgeous if I do say so my self I could pass off for a model with my height and my curves, I have the right things in the right places, I've never worked out in my life, but currently with my lack of food I look malnourished my stomach is flat maybe when I find a job and a good place to stay I can start working out. I put my wet hair in a bun, hoping it makes me look professional, I grab my torn coat I know it's torn but it's cold outside, and I don't think anyone can see the tear only if you look closely or focus on the rip. I grab my bag and the little cash I found around the house while cleaning, I start walking out the back door quietly closing it, hoping no one sees me, I walk past the side of the house when am about to reach the front I see a woman I've known since the day I was born, the cat lady, she's a single old lady that lives across the street always smoking, she's standing by my house fence, petting a cat that probably ran away from the insane lady. Her eyes dart around and I quietly start moving slowly by the side of the house cause if I decide to walk freely in the middle she might spot me “Hello hello-" Is anybody there? I'm almost making it to the back when my leg hits something making a loud noise I wince “Hello hello-" I’m gonna call the police if you don't show your face I roll my eyes and jump past the stupid metal flowering can that fell, I see her walking my way but I quickly dart to the other side of the house, she reaches the backyard and I hear her mumble to herself about how she's going crazy Yeah she got one thing right, I watch as she heads into her house across from mine, I sigh releasing a huge breath, before walking out to the front porch and then out the gates, I start walking down the streets, and soon enough I reach a coffee shop, I get a cup of black coffee which is horrible but the cheapest and anything to keep me awake and hungover free. I continue my walk looking for a help wanted sign when I finally find one, and enter, It is not a fancy restaurant but it is close to it maybe I could be a waitress it's not so hard I've done it before when I was in high school to find money for my sister's treatment when we found out about her cancer. I ask one of the waitresses who looks at me like am crazy but I just stare her down and she eventually leads me to the manager's office, I knock before I enter, and a man my age or a little bit older is sitting in the middle of the office in a brown chair that looks comfortable You can have a sit he points to the seat opposite him I nod with a smile hoping it will mesmerize him to give me the job right away but am pretty sure I look constipated with the small frown he gives me “Are you okay?” I nod, using a cheery voice, “I’m perfect.” He nods and hands me a paper that I’m supposed to fill in about myself “I’m going to step outside for a bit while you do that” he nods I nod grabbing a pen from him and watching him leave okay Sophia you can do this, I tell myself, after I have done this millions of times Name: Oh that's easy Sophia Castillo Age: Ptfff what do these people take me for 22 years old Date of birth: I chuckle October 24th, 1996 that's in 5 months Height: 5'8ft Weight: I don't know Experience: worked in a pizza shop for 2 years before quitting Criminal record?: I chuckle to myself I wonder why they put that here, I shrug my shoulders it won't hurt to lie its just a simple white lie so No criminal record Phone Number:(********) School qualification: graduated with a degree in business administration I nod finishing up the rest with things about address and parents' name next of kin and s**t Soon the guy from before comes back taking a seat I hand it over to him He looks down at it, this is all good, let me just run this through, He types a a few things I don't understand on his computer followed by the printer at the side making noises printing out a piece of paper, he gives me a little smile and soon his smile drops when he looks down at the paper his eyes going wide I bit my lips probably lying is a bad idea “You've been arrested more than 8 times,” he says in shock I chuckle “It's not 8 just 12” He narrows his eyes at me tearing the form I filled in pieces, “Out!!!” He practically screams “Please I need-" “I’m going to call security,” he says with a panicked look in his eyes I roll my eyes and snort, and you call yourself a man, I walk out with the last of my dignity, I apply in 5 more places like that, treating me the same way like I’m a murderer before I finally give up, I start walking home aware of my stomach growling reminding me that I've not eaten all day and it's already dark The rest of the week goes on the same way, sleep wake up, eat something small, find a job, they insult me, run away or just to make it spicy security throws me out. I finally give up on Friday I’m not going anywhere and I’m not doing a thing anymore, I head to the cupboard and find out the worst thing am low on food the only things I have left are a can of soda and a little bit of cereal remaining, I sigh looking out to the backyard, its dark maybe I should find a bar or something and get a guy to buy me a drink. I shook my head nope not happening I have been trying to stop the feeling of wanting to drink alcohol all week and am not gonna stop now, I grab a deep plate, opening up the soda, and pour half of it into the plate, then half of the cereal into the bowl, I grab a spoon and put one scoop in my mouth, hmmmm-" eh-" meh-" its not so bad, I continue with my food before heading to the living room where I stop in my tracks I chuckle putting a scoop of my food in my mouth, “well hello officer” “Excuse me, mam, you're on private property and you are meant to leave right now” “Like right now?” “Yes right now mam,” he says his hand on his revolver “Okay okay” I drop the plate and raise my hand in submission aware of the police officer's eyes on my leg, great I decided wearing only panties and my dad's old t-shirt was a good idea. I head to my parent's room first, I was planning on searching the whole house tomorrow for some sort of cash or jewelry I can pawn off but looks like I have to do that now, I look through the drawers under the bed, everywhere, my eyes go wide s**t those smart bastards I know wrong words to use for your parents but whatever I cross the hall to the toilet when I hear the cop voice vibrate through the house “Uh, lady?” “I’m coming I just have to pack off some things, lady things you know” I shout back, he shuts up after that I snicker to myself I open up the top part of the toilet, the tank, but right there is a bundle of money wrapped up in a white plastic bag floating in the water, I grin to myself, grabbing my toiletries, and heading to my bedroom, I pack the last of my things in my bag and put on my black jeans I climb down the stairs “Okay officer I’m ready” I say with a little smile at least I have some money even though I have no idea how much is in the plastic bag He nods, walking out the back door “How did you get in here?” “I have a key” I shrug “How?” “I lived here till my parents gave the house to the bank without me knowing” I sigh “Okay” he nods, “I’m not going to arrest you, but I don't want you back in this house There were complaints from the next-door neighbors and they are worried especially the woman across the street” he points to the crazy cat lady who is in a rocking chair on her front porch I bit my tongue to stop myself from sticking out my tongue at her and shout in her face that I have money now so I just settled for sticking my middle finger at her watching as she did the same The cop laughs lowly entering his car and I walk away, I start walking since it is getting dark and my phone is dead, I find a motel and get a small room, when I settle in the room I climb my bed and grab the plastic bag with the money, I pull out the small ward of cash and start counting. I chuckle to myself I can't believe my parents were hiding this all this time, 15,000 dollars my eyes go wide, I could do so much with this but I know it won't last more than months with me if I don't find a job soon. I sigh, I need to start a fresh new life, find a new place to live in a place where no one knows me, where I can live freely maybe I can just leave the country but I know no one, I sigh and grab the money shoving it in my purse I step out of the door a location in mind and no am not going to a bar even though my body is begging me to move to the closet bar or club, I get in a cab and tell the driver my location. The drive takes not too long and soon am paying the driver and heading inside the police station, I smile when I spot Emily, she smiles at me coming to me with handcuffs “What did you do this time? And who arrested you?” I hear some of the cops chuckle, nodding to me, “Oh Emily you underestimate me.” She rolls her eyes “We've all been expecting you” I touch my heart, “you guys miss me” “Don't worry Sophia I'll go get Chuck” a younger cop says to me “Now you're talking and Emily I did absolutely nothing wrong this time, I'm here to just see Chuck” She laughs “Wow a new and improved Sophia good” I roll my eyes when I find Chuck striding to me with a smile “Well hello love” I smile, smitten by his British accent “Hey Chuck I need to talk to you privately” He nods turning back around with me following behind soon we stop in front of his office, he opens the door and I enter with him, There are 3 other desks in the office too but they are not here right now, he moves to his seat and I take a sit opposite him “So what do you want to talk about” I bit my lips, “I need help” He nods, “what did you do this time finally murdered someone?” he jokes I laugh lowly “Nope, John dumped me” I sigh His eyes go wide, before rubbing his bald forehead “Never expected that when?” “When he came to get me last week” “Where have you been staying?” He asks wide-eyed “My parent's house,” I shrug “But I thought-" “I know, I know, I sneaked in and I have been living there for the past week but crazy cat lady somehow saw me and called the cops, and I was kicked out tonight.” “So what's your plan?” I shrug my shoulders, “I tried getting a job and you can guess what happened” He smiles, “yes” “I want to get out of the country but I don't know where and I know nobody so I thought I could ask you” “Sorry love but my parents are dead, no relatives in London anymore” he sighs leaning back in his seat I bit my lip and drop my head on the desk groaning “But I do have my godmother and godfather in London, they are old and had a cafe, and had no one to help out, they closed it off 5 years ago but since you're saying this now, I can give them a call” he smirks I raise my head eyes wide in surprise, “Really? Thank you!!” I squeal “But you will have to take care of your living arrangement and your plane ticket, but the job is yours if you want it” I nod, “It's okay I'll arrange everything so when can I leave?” “I can call right now and you can leave tomorrow evening if that's enough time to gather everything” he sends me a small smile I nod, “It's okay I’m staying at a motel, you can call me when you get the go” He nods at me sympathy in his eyes, “I hope you know what you're doing Sophia” I nod “I do I just want to start afresh” He nods, “good luck” I nod standing up, he does the same and we hug, “I’m going to go now” He nods with a smile I nod and walk out of the station saying goodbye to Emily, I get a cab back to the motel, and I immediately sleep as soon as my back hits the bed.
