“You stupid child!, so you were dating that poor boy all these while?”
The force from the slap got Elena tumbling on the floor.
She raised her head, glaring at her father, this was the first time she was ever defiant in front of the man she always relied on.
“He is not just any poor guy father, he is the smartest guy I have ever known, he is…”
“Shut up!What do you know about this world? He is smart and so?Can he give you the kind of life you want?” Mr McCormick asked loudly, the veins on his face were straining in anger.
“What type of love do you think that i want father?, I'm not interested in all the material things that you provide for me, and I believe In Gerald, he is definitely going to be a successful man in the future”
Elena countered, the confidence in her eyes blazed brightly.
Mr McCormick took a deep breath and pointed his finger at Elena “there's no need for you to think that Elena,break up with him, right now” he said, he threw Elena's phone at her.
Elena refused to pick up the divorce “I'm not doing that Dad, you can't force me to let go of the man that I love”.
“Not only are you stupid but you are mentally deranged, just like your b***h of a mother!” he screamed “you think love is everything?, love can conquer all? Then you must be delusional” the man was panting after saying all this .
Elena stared at her father with wide eyes, she hadn't seen him in such a state before.
Mr McCormick sighed, he rubbed his forehead tiredly “no need saying much, you have met Mr Silvano already…get ready, the two of you are getting married in a week time, so you better think about it carefully and when you are done thinking, take that phone and break up with your poor excuse of a boyfriend”
He walked out of the room, closing the door behind him harshly.
Elena shakily stood up from the floor, taking the phone along with her, she walked to the bed and lay on it, she didn't know when tears began to fall from her eyes as she began to sob loudly and heartbreakingly.

Outside the room, Mr McCormick sighed heavily.
He walked Into the study room, he opened the window blinds before lighting a cigarette.
“You have such a stubborn daughter” a voice said.
He turned sharply, on seeing the man seated leisurely on the chair,the look in his eyes changed sharply.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, taking a puff of the cigarette.
“They met this night right?” The man asked with raised brows.
“Yeah, the plan should be put into motion soon” Mr McCormick replied.
“Of course it should after all, if it doesn't your huge behemoth of a company would become an empty shell, falling like a stack of bricks” he said, a sinister smile on his face, his hands making falling signs in the air.
Mr McCormick swallowed.
there was an awkward silence in the study for a moment before Mr McCormick opened his mouth “I want you to help me deal with someone, my mind tells me that he would jeopardize everything I have worked hard for….His name is Gerald”
“Oh you mean your daughter's little boyfriend, I've got all of that handled” he replied with a sinister smile.

It was morning when Elena opened her eyes.
She jerked up from the bed with wide eyes, the pain coming from her head made her wince.
She had cried herself to sleep last night so it was expected that she would have a headache.
She stood up from the bed, making her way to the bathroom.
A few minutes later, she came out of the bathroom, water dripping down her body, she dressed up and walked out of the room.

To her surprise, she saw her father on the dining table, he was already seated.
“Good morning Elena” he said with a nod.
Elena kept quiet, she didn't want to speak to him.
Last night broke her heart completely, she thought that her father was just strict with her because he loved her but his behavior last night showed her that He didn't have a single atom of love for her.
“We need to talk, Elena, so stop acting like a little child and look at me!” He yelled in an angry voice.
Elena looked at him reluctantly “Good morning Dad”
He nodded his head in satisfaction “I'm sorry for laying my hands on you yesterday but I was just too angry…imagine finding out that my own daughter was dating a dubious boy behind my back, I was disappointed in you” he began.
“And then…I haven't told you about this but…the company is experiencing a serious crisis,we are facing a serious case fo sudden bankruptcy” he said.
Elena's eyes widened in shock, the fork she had just picked up slipped out of her hand and she covered her mouth with her hand.
“What did you just say father?” She asked.
“Yes, only a corporation with the Silvano family can help us right now and his only demand was for him to marry you”
“But I don't want to! I don't know who he is, I don't even like him, so why should I get married to him?” Elena screamed.
“But you have to sacrifice for our family, our company!”
A tear rolled down Elena's cheeks, she didn't want this, she didn't want to marry a man she didn't know and above all, she didn't want to betray Gerald.
But if she didn't…then her father's company was going to go bankrupt.
