Part three:The blood that shouldn't exist

916 Words
Lucian's POV Hell did not sleep. It never had. It never would. Its rivers burned with liquid fire, mountains bled molten rock, and beneath a crimson sky millions of damned souls screamed into eternity. Their cries blended into one endless chorus that echoed through every corner of the Underworld. To most, it was unbearable. To Lucian... It was home. He sat upon the Black Throne carved from the bones of forgotten kings, one hand resting lazily against the armrest while the other held a goblet filled with blood darker than wine. Demons lined both sides of the Infernal Hall. No one dared speak. No one dared breathe too loudly. Because when the Devil grew bored... Entire kingdoms disappeared. Tonight was different. The annual Ceremony of Dominion had begun. It was older than humanity itself. Every ruler of Hell attended-not because they wished to, but because Lucian commanded it. Towering demons bowed as they entered. Generals of the Abyss knelt. Princes of Sin lowered their heads. Even ancient beasts older than civilization remained silent beneath his gaze. Lucian hated ceremonies. They were repetitive. Predictable. Boring. He was halfway through ignoring another endless speech when... His hand froze. The goblet slipped from his fingers. It shattered against the black marble floor. Silence consumed the hall. Every demon stared. Lucian never lost control. Never. Yet his crimson eyes widened with something no one had seen in millennia. Shock. "No..." He stood so suddenly that the throne cracked beneath the force. He closed his eyes. There it was again. A heartbeat. Faint. Impossible. A pulse unlike anything he had felt in thousands of years. "...Pure blood." The words escaped as little more than a whisper. The entire hall erupted into murmurs. Impossible. Pure blood no longer existed. Not after the Great Purge. Thousands of years ago, before humans built kingdoms, before history had a name, there had been a bloodline unlike any other. They were born human... Yet their souls carried light untouched by corruption. No demon could possess them. No curse could stain them. No spell could fully bind them. Their blood alone could seal gates between Heaven, Earth... ...and Hell. To demons, it was both the most beautiful and most terrifying thing in existence. So Lucian had exterminated them. Every family. Every child. Every last descendant. Or so he believed. His jaw tightened. "I killed them." The hall remained frozen. "I watched the last one die." His voice became colder. "So why..." The heartbeat echoed again. Stronger. Closer. Lucian clenched his fists. The floor beneath him exploded into cracks. Fire burst from every fracture. The ancient demons instinctively stepped backward. They had seen him angry before. Never like this. One elderly demon slowly lifted his head. "My Lord..." Lucian's eyes snapped toward him. The old demon immediately dropped to his knees. "It cannot be Pure Blood." "It is." "But that's impossible." "I know." His voice was frighteningly calm. "And that..." He smiled. "...is exactly why I'm going myself." Gasps echoed across the chamber. "The King cannot leave Hell!" "The Gates-" "I said..." Every flame inside the palace died. "...I'm going." No one argued again. Lucian stepped away from the throne. Black smoke wrapped around him like living shadows. His massive horns slowly disappeared. His wings dissolved into darkness. The burning crown upon his head faded. When the smoke cleared... He looked almost human. Almost. His black hair fell carelessly across his forehead. His skin was pale enough to resemble marble. Golden eyes replaced the crimson for only a heartbeat... before darkening into an unnatural amber. Beautiful. Terrifying. Perfect. He opened a portal with a flick of his fingers. Earth waited on the other side. The abandoned chapel was silent. The seven teenagers hadn't moved since the candles exploded. No one knew what they had summoned. No one wanted to. Then... A tear appeared in the air. Not a c***k. Not a flash. Reality itself ripped apart. Black smoke poured into the chapel. The candles bent toward it. The temperature dropped so low that frost crept across the wooden floor. A figure stepped through. Tall. Elegant. Calm. His boots touched the ground without making a sound. The portal sealed behind him. Silence. The group stared. He stared back. Then Scoba, despite shaking so hard his teeth clicked together, let out an awkward laugh. "...Nah." Nobody answered him. He scratched the back of his neck. "So..." He forced a grin. "Either Comic-Con got really weird..." He looked Lucian up and down. "...or Hell finally hired a model." Silence. David slowly turned toward him. "Scoba..." "What?" "This isn't the time." "I'm trying not to pee myself!" Lucian blinked once. Then... To everyone's confusion... The corner of his mouth twitched. Not a smile. Almost. "What... an interesting creature." Scoba pointed at himself. "Me?" "Yes." "I've been called many things, but 'interesting creature' is a new one." For the first time in centuries... Lucian almost laughed. Almost. Then his eyes moved across the group. He ignored every frightened face. Until... He saw her. The heartbeat. The impossible blood. The one soul that should never have existed. His expression hardened. "So..." His voice echoed through the chapel like distant thunder. "It was you." The girl instinctively stepped back. "I don't even know who you are." "No." Lucian replied softly. "But I know exactly what you are." Every candle went out. Darkness swallowed the room. When the light returned... The chapel was empty. The teenagers... Were gone. They had taken their first breath... In Hell.
