“Sorry,” Ava muttered under her breath and felt embarrassed with how she acted.
After Dimitri had said the words, not once did his eyes leave her face. He was studying her, every tiny twitch of her expression, even the way she looked away and paled. For a few minutes it was just complete silence.
Until it wasn’t.
The car was filled with laughter.
Dimitri’s laughter. His usual barking laugh. He had thrown his head back, clutching his stomach in sheer joy while pointing at the both of them as though he had an inside joke.
“You should’ve seen your faces.”
Ava’s face transformed from being embarrassed and sorry to looking betrayed. Then, her face twisted into complete anger. “YOU LYING SON OF A—”
