They arrived at the casino, its grand entrance gleaming under the golden lights. The hum of chatter filled the air, but it was the sharp, curious glances that pierced the atmosphere as soon as Ava, Dimitri, and Giovanni walked in.
As they stepped into the main room, Ava noticed the way people’s eyes flickered toward them, how whispers seemed to grow louder just as they passed. She could feel the weight of every gaze, the way heads turned, groups exchanging murmured words.
“Are they talking about us?” Ava asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she trailed behind Dimitri and Van, glancing over her shoulder at a group who quickly looked away.
Dimitri smirked, not bothering to turn around. "Of course, they are. It's what they do."
