Rejected

568 Words
Natalie's face was already tear-stained. Brian was looking at her oddly as if he wasn't quite sure what he was going to say next. Natalie stooped down and grabbed her pack slinging it over her shoulder. "You know since you banished me I don't really have to stick around and listen to you anymore. You're no longer my alpha as you pointed out so clearly when you made your decree. So if you'll excuse me I'll be going now." She turned to leave and step outside the pack's border. She refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry anymore. Brian actually put his hand on her shoulder to stop her from going. Hazel growled inside her head. Brian took a deep breath "I, Brian Mortar of the Harvest Moon pack reject you Natalie Thorne as my mate." even though his face didn't show it the words tasted bad as they came out of his mouth. His inner wolf was protesting angrily. We can't do this to her, we need to protect her. He pushed his wolf down and waited to see how Natalie would respond. He couldn't stay mated to someone if their parents were rogues. As an alpha he had to set an example for the pack even if it hurt him. Besides the Moon Goddess could've made a mistake by choosing her, she wasn't anyone with royal blood anyways. At least that's what he tried to tell himself to make it easier. His wolf was fighting with him mentally for even saying the words out loud. Natalie stared at Brian in complete shock. Her green eyes were still wet from crying. Was he mental? There is no way her mate would ever banish her it would go against every instinct. Alphas that were mated had a stronger pack than those who were unmated. She had heard when someone rejects another it was supposed to be like a part of you had died so why wasn't she feeling anything? Why wasn't he showing any sign of pain? Maybe because she wasn't eighteen yet. Either way if he wanted to reject her she was determined not to let him see her cry anymore. "You know what Brian, you don't deserve someone awesome like me anyways. I, Natalie Thorne accept your rejection. Have a nice life jackass!" Natalie pulled her should from his grasp and took off running into the woods. She didn't even bother turning around to stare out the home she once knew. If she did she would lose her courage and go back. As she she went running through the trees she could feel the hot tears making tracks down her cheeks. She couldn't stop now though. There would be time to wallow but she needed to get further away from the border before she could consider herself safe from potentially trespassing in the area that used to be her home. Branches pulled at her hair and skin as she ran. Reaching the end of the clearing she finally stopped to catch her breath a minute. She would be able to run faster as a wolf but wouldn't be able to carry her belongings with her if she did that. What a day she thought to herself. Banished and rejected within the last twenty-four hours. How could one day turn her life around so drastically? What the heck was she supposed to do now?
