That Saturday was a night to remember. The three of us went for a drive and that"s all I wanted to do, go for a drive with Samir and Pepsi, in my new red jeans and shiny gold brown hair. But they wanted to show me off, so we went down to the Lebanese diner and had dinner there. That"s where the folks went who didn"t drink, and also some of the higher society who went for ethnic food on a Saturday evening before going out for drinks at the Red Ox Inn. La Shish was crowded. Samir got to show me off to the interim mayor and her family. She didn"t know who I was but I was pretty sure she was one of the alderwomen/men who had opposed Hizhonnor when Hizhonnor was alive.
