The full moon shone like a Chinese lantern on the job I had to do. Again on a Saturday. Everything significant happened on a Saturday. Tonight was May twenty-fifth and the moon cast shadows on Molly (Margaret Schneider) Dewitt"s back yard as I bent my back and searched for what I knew would be there, a mound of fresh earth. I"d seen it from Molly"s living room last year, the pretty garden and the spade leaning against the garden shed. Spade in hand, I searched with the blade for what I knew was there, a box beneath the soil. No luck the first time I tried it, just bulbs newly planted. Under the bulbs, I struck something hard.
