Chapter Six: Aiden

I'm furious as I walk out of the pack hospital. What the hell am I supposed to do? I have no clue who my mate could possibly be, and until I find out, I could be in for a world of pain.

Not only that now I'm worried how I'll measure up. He's more experienced than me, I've never even been kissed before. What if he doesn't want me or what if I can't please him are the thoughts running through my mind at the moment.

What if he rejects me?

I was never really excited about finding a mate like most of my peers, it's just not something I focused on, but now that I know he's close I'm terrified.

I hear footsteps behind me and I know my father has followed me out of the hospital.

“Sweetheart, please let's talk about this, I know your upset.”

“Dad, please, I just want to go home.” I keep walking, but he reaches out and stops me, turning me to face him.

“Aiden, this is a good thing you know your mate is close, some people have to wait years. Look at Alpha Kai, he is 26 and still not mated.”

“Yeah, well, even if he did have a mate he'd probably still be screwing half the single females in the pack” I retort.

“You can't keep doing that, Aiden, he is your Alpha, and it's important to show him some respect”.

I know my father is right, but I just can't seem to stop myself when it comes to him. He gets under my skin and on my nerves something fierce.

Then a thought occurs to me...oh s**t, what if he's my mate. No, that's not possible, there's no way, absolutely not!

My father suddenly snaps his fingers in front of my face, startling me. “Earth to Aiden, where did you go”.

I smile at my father “nowhere dad, I'm just tired”. “Ok, well, we can head home in a minute, Alpha Rico has called us to the pack house. He heard about what happened and wanted to check and make sure you were ok.”

“Do we have to go?” I plead with my eyes, trying to soften my father up a bit.

“You know we do” he chuckles, “it won't take long, I promise”.

I nod my head, knowing it's no use arguing with my father, I won't win this one. We walk the few blocks to the pack house.

Although house is not a word I would use to describe it, it's more like a mansion with all the bells and whistles. Three stories of luxury living suites, built in movie theater, game room, indoor and outdoor pools, a state-of-the-art training center and gym. It's got a full on ballroom where most of our pack parties are hosted, leading out to a patio and sprawling gardens with a hedge maze and fountains.

It screams hey look at me! My father almost moved us in when my mother died, but I begged him not to. Being in the house where I was born and grew up made me feel closer to her.

My father's been my rock all my life, and I'm incredibly grateful I have him.

My father smiles at me as we walk through the door. We head directly for the Alphas' office, which of down a hall to the left of the grand foyer.

We make our way closer to our destination, I'm suddenly assaulted with the most amazing smell I've ever known. It's fresh cut grass in the spring, earth, and sunshine and masculine. It's mouth watering...but where's it coming from.

“Aiden?” my father questions, realizing I've stopped walking. “Are you okay?”

“Do you smell that?" I ask him, looking around and smelling the air to see what direction I need to go to find it.

My father stares at me, head c****d to the side, then a huge grin fall across his face.

“What?” I ask still sniffing the air, “Why are you looking at me like that?”

But just as the question falls from my lips the Alphas' door crashes open and standing there in all his sweaty, half naked hotness because he was only wearing workout shorts.... Is Alpha Kai.

We lock eyes and one single word leaves his mouth....' Mine!”
