The man who saved me

1443 Words
Her P.O.V. The moment I opened my eyes, I saw the unknown ceiling lying right before me. I was running in a thick forest at night, how did I end up in here? “Um-“When I tried to speak my voice wasn’t coming out. But the maid who was cleaning the room looked at me hearing my voice. She looked as if she had seen a ghost or something all frightened and shriveled up. “Stacey!” she yelled at the other maid who was cutting up fruits. “What?”. “I’m busy.” “She’s awake!”. “What?”. She dropped an apple from her hands and turned to me. Seeing me all awake she was shocked as well. “You are right! She’s awake!” She rushed over to my side and stared at me for a couple of seconds. “We need to give the news to Lord right away!” she said, rushing towards the door in a hurry. And by the time she came back, these two men also came back with her. Who are they? The man who sat next to my bed, had messy highlighted blond hair falling onto his face. His facial features made him look quite rough with a strict personality. But his almond-brown eyes made his features look so soft. Who’s this beautiful living creature? I feel safe in his presence. He looks very much like my brother. He paused for a second before continuing further. “I know you had a very bad experience all the way. And I’m sorry for your loss.” He seemed to look very much guilty when he said that he had done nothing in this matter. “Do you want to go back to where you came from or stay here?” A shrill ran down my back when he talked about going back to that hellish place. “N-no!” I retorted back. “I don’t-“. “Lord, you are planning on letting a slave from another place stay here?” the other guy comments, staring at me. He had dark hair, and light green eyes with a thin build. “Yes, what’s the problem with it?” the other man retorted. “And stop calling her a slave. She must have a name right?”. “Refer to her as a person.” “But, she didn’t bother to tell us her name.” The guy who was sitting turned to me with a puzzled face. “If you truly want to stay here, then I have no problem with letting you say. But, you’ll have to introduce yourself for that.” I thought over it for a few minutes. He’s letting me stay here, even though I’m from a different pack. And he even treated me to my injuries. No matter how I look at it, he seems like a good person. But, I shouldn’t become a burden to him. The other guy doesn’t seem to like me that much. Should I stay? I don’t want to take advantage of anyone’s kindness. “Um….”. I looked into his eyes when I started talking. He was listening to me with grave concern. “I…had a very bad experience in there, so I don’t want to go back….if possible.” “My brother….told me to live.” “So, I want to live up to his wishes.” Whenever I mentioned him, the scenery of his death flashed before my eyes every time. His soulless eyes, and blood that came out his mouth when he told me to go. He never looked as much afraid as he looked that day. “I’ll try my best not to be a burden to you!”. “I’ll work hard, and earn my food and bed. So, you don’t need to think of me as useless or freeloader.” He smiled a little. “I’ve heard what I needed to. You don’t need to worry about anything for the time being.” “For the time being, you can think about healing your wounds and getting well. Then, you can worry about work and everything. Alright?”. I nod at him. “T-thanks for your kindness for letting me stay.” I tried to get up, but the wounds stabbed, making me feel the pain again. “No need to get up, you can keep lying down.” He added. He’s a nice person. “After I get well, I’ll do my best to repay your kindness to you.” He chuckled. “You are a serious person.” “So, what’s your name?”. I lowered my gaze. “I…I’m Camellia Florence.” “It’s my pleasure to meet you.” “Camellia…..like the flowers?” he asked with a curious expression. I nod at him. “Yes, my mom was very much fond of them.” “That’s why she named me after them.” “Good for you, we have a whole garden full of Camellia in our house,” he replied with a smile. What? “it’s native to our land.” One of the maids spoke. “When you get well, you can see them for yourself.” I glanced at the man sitting next to me. “Um….forgive my rudeness. But, will you tell me your name and where is this place? I have no idea about what happened to me after I passed out in the forest?”. “S-sorry about it, I forgot to introduce myself.” He apologized with a chuckle. He straightened his posture and replied, “I’m Asher Benett, I’m the Alpha of the Silver-moon pack.” He’s an Alpha? No wonder he looks quite responsible. And these maids seem very much friendly as well. It’s all because of his influence. “And you are in my packhouse which is in Hampton.” “You fainted in the Uclair forest, where me and my men went for hunting. And found you unconscious behind a bush.” “As you were quite injured I decided to bring you back to give you treatment.” “And after sleeping for 2 days straight you finally woke up.” “That sums up the whole story.” “You took in a stranger without thinking?” I gasped for a second. “Yes, but to me you weren’t just a stranger to me.” He replied sternly. “You were an injured person to me.” “And saving you seemed like my responsibility, so I brought you back with me.” I couldn’t look into his face. Back in there, if any of us were bleeding to death or injured, nobody would even take a look at us. And here he took in a stranger just because of an injury. Do such people exist? Or am I just dreaming? “Well, now that you will be living here. It makes you pack member, doesn’t it?”. His statement made me look at him. “What?”. He got up on his feet, giving a warm smile. “Welcome to the family, Camellia.” “I hope you’ll get used to this place.” “And as long as you are here, nobody will make you work till death, nor beat you up.” “You are under my protection, and can feel at home.” So much kindness, so much warmth, it seems to be just like a dream I never want to wake up from. All of a sudden, tears overwhelmed my eyes. I couldn’t stop them from falling. Asher became concerned to see that. “H-hey! What happened? Why are you crying?” he stuttered. “Did I say something mean to you?”. I was choking on my tears. “I…”. “Why’s she crying?” the maids whispered. I wiped away the tears with the sleeves of my dress. “These are the tears of joy,” I replied. “I…feel so happy suddenly….”. “That I feel like that I don’t deserve all this.” “I’m just a slave, yet you treat me like a proper person. I feel so-“. Asher bent down and patted onto my head. “Don’t call yourself a slave. You are no longer a slave in here. Everyone lives here freely. Got it?” he murmured to me gently. I nod at him. “Thank you, for giving me a place to belong to.” “I’ll be forever grateful to you.”
