9 Taylor squared her shoulders and drew a deep breath. She held it, letting it soak into her lungs and give her strength. She needed it. She was walking into a lion’s den with a man she barely knew and had to pretend she was happy about it. She was not. Dex walked up to the door and knocked once, then opened it. He stepped inside as the noise knocked Taylor back a step. She paused, wishing she had time for another deep breath before she had to walk into a stranger’s home. Why did she agree to this? No one noticed them as they moved inside and closed the door behind them. A group of men sat at the table arguing about something. A few women were in the kitchen. More men were on the couch with another mixed group on the back patio. Taylor couldn’t remember the last time she’d been around
