Camila’s POV
"Oh, you don't know how happy you make me," says my nanny, wiping her tears.
"That dress makes you look like a princess."
"Thank you, nana. I wanted you to see it before the wedding. It was a shame I couldn't take you with me to the dress fitting, but you were with your family."
"Don't worry, my girl. I still appreciate that you made time to show it to me a day before your big day."
I have been organizing my wedding for months. The wedding planner has been amazing with me, taking into account every detail I tell her, every observation, everything that comes out of my mouth to make it a reality; from my invitations, wanting them to be like those messages sent by the sea, where the information and details of the wedding are inside a bottle, to the centerpieces, my favorite flowers, everything is becoming a reality.
"I am so happy, nana. I feel like it's a dream everything that's happening, as if I'm asleep right now, and this is a magical dream."
I walked towards the window, lifting my dress a little, as I rolled back the curtains, I see the movement of all those people preparing the garden for the celebration.
"Hurry up, let's change your dress. We don't want the groom to see you here, that's bad luck."
"Oh, you're right, he'll be here soon."
This afternoon we will be together for dinner. Part of my family arrived a few days ago, and today we want to spend some time together. We know that tomorrow we won't be able to, and the day after tomorrow I'll be leaving with my fiancé for our honeymoon.
"Do you need any help?"
I nodded and turned around so my nanny could help me take off the dress.
"Yesterday you were just a spoiled little girl, and now, you're a grown woman. I can't believe it; when did I go from putting onesies on you to helping you with your wedding dress?"
My nanny is very important to me. When my parents separated, I went through a very hard time, and I admit it wasn't easy for her at first. But she managed to earn my affection, and she became the closest thing to a mother to me.
"I know, I can't believe it either."
In the afternoon, my father comes home from work and enters his room. It was the perfect moment to intercept him.
"Daddy, how are you?"
"Daddy? Do you need something, don't you?"
"No, I just want to give you a hug. I have to take advantage of it as much as I can because I will be moving soon, and I won't be able to bother you anymore."
"That doesn't mean you won't come anymore, Clarisa. Your nanny and I will still be here in this house."
"Well, not for much longer. When I have my children, I'll take her with me."
"No, I'd rather you take your sister and not Jacinta. She's the one who knows everyone's duties here. So, no, she's not leaving."
"Where am I going?" asks Clarisa, appearing in dad's room.
"Hey! That's my blouse. I told you not to wear my clothes."
"It will be the last time. Besides, you also wore my Gucci bag before me. Thankfully, you'll be leaving soon."
"You don't know what you've been saved from. If the wedding had taken place on the original date, I would have also used your Prada bags."
The wedding was originally scheduled for the end of the year, but my dad suggested it be earlier. He's a busy man, and I imagine his excitement led him to want the wedding to be sooner than planned.
My sister leaves the room, and soon after I hear my fiancé's voice.
"Go on, your boyfriend is here."
"No, I'll wait for him to come so he can greet you in passing."
"No, he'll do it later."
My father has been acting strange lately. I don't know what's wrong with him. He hasn't wanted to attend family events or accept our invitations to go out.
"Dad, is there something wrong with Jhonny? I don't know, are you angry about something and haven't told me yet?"
"No, of course not."
"Then why are you acting so distant with him?"
"You're thinking strange things lately."
"Really, is there nothing going on?"
"Of course not. Now, get out of here. I'll get ready for dinner."
I think what's going on with him is that parental jealousy of knowing that a man will be taking their daughters away. He loves Jhonny.
When I come down with the others, I find my fiancé carrying one of my little cousins and flower girls in his arms. I can already imagine what a family with him will be like. I want and desire to have children so much, to wake up in the morning and see him with our child in his arms.
"My love, how are you?"
"I'm fine, a bit stressed because I've been busy all day, but here I am."
"Did your family arrive?"
"No, they will come later. I'll pick them up at the airport after dinner, then I'll take them to my bachelor house and settle them in the master bedroom."
His parents live in Switzerland. I've only seen them a couple of times in the two years we've been together. Jhonny is an only child. I know he had a sister, but she passed away a few years ago. It's a topic he has never talked to me about, and I understand it must be tough for him.
"That's fine, my love. I know having them here with you will make you very happy."
My mother won't be at the wedding. I didn't have a close relationship with her. After separating from my father, she remarried and has a new family. She told me a few days ago that they won't be able to travel. Apparently, her husband is dealing with a situation and can't be there.
It's not something that affects me; to be honest, I care more about having my father, my sister, and my nanny there. My father comes down from his room and has the same expression with my fiancé, he just shakes his hand and doesn't exchange words with him. Why is he acting like this?
"The food is ready," says the kitchen assistant.
"The chef prepared Italian food today, we hope you enjoy it."
The women who work in the house bring us the dishes.
My fiancé sits next to me, on the other side is my father in the main chair; in front of me is my sister and the rest, I have uncles, cousins, and close friends.
"Thank you all for coming, we wanted to open this space so that Cami could share with you, as you know tomorrow will be a busy day for everyone and then we have to say goodbye to you for your honeymoon.
We started the dinner, every bite was delicious.
"Oh, can someone pass me the salt, please?" says my sister trying to reach for the salt shaker.
"I'll do it," my fiancé responds.
When he extends his arm to grab it, my father stands up, leans over, and takes it before handing it to my sister.
"I'll do it."
"Oh, thank you, father."
My sister looks at her brother-in-law confused, I know, I'm also the same.
At the end of the dinner, we move on to dessert, everyone is curious to know where we will spend our honeymoon.
"I didn't want to say it yet, it's my father's gift. We're going to Hawaii, can you believe it?"
"How kind, I wish I had a father-in-law who would give me such a gift."
"You're lucky, Jhonny, this woman is like a treasure."
"That's why I love her, she is my life, you don't know how happy I am to join my life with hers. Tomorrow I can say with certainty that she is my wife."
Everyone looks at us with loving faces, congratulating us on our beautiful relationship.
"Alright, thank you all for accepting this lovely invitation, we hope that tomorrow we can be united and enjoy with us what will be the best day of our lives."
Jhonny says goodbye to those present, shakes my father's hand, and then hugs me and gives me a kiss.
"See you tomorrow, I promise it will be the most special day of all."
"Oh, I can't wait for it to be morning. Can you imagine, soon we'll wake up together, we'll be in our home."
His parents gave us a beautiful apartment for a wedding gift, it's incredible. After the wedding, we'll go to that place and the next morning we'll leave on our trip.
"The days are getting shorter, Mrs. Müller."
"Be careful, as soon as you're with your parents, call me, alright?"
Jhonny goes to his car and drives away.
I went back to my aunts who have a bottle of wine to talk about married life, they'll give me their advice on how to maintain a good relationship, I can only imagine.
"Where is your sister? This will also be useful to her if she decides to get married someday."
"No, marriage isn't for me, I don't want to tie myself to just one man knowing that there are hundreds out there just for me."
"Clarisa, you're the older sister, don't you feel embarrassed that your younger sister is getting married before you?"
"No, I feel sorry for her."
My sister comes out dressed up with her purse in hand.
"Are you going out?"
"Yes, I have to meet up with some friends, see you later."
She waves her hands and leaves the mansion.
"That girl will be a perennial spinster, you'll see."
I stayed with my aunts for about an hour, we talked about their advice for me. Then, I went to my room to finish packing some things. I opened the drawer of my books and there I found the silk rose petals I had bought.
"Oh, s**t! I forgot to decorate our bed, I wanted to surprise Jhonny when we arrive at our apartment. I want to make a huge heart on our bed, make a path with them, I want to fill the whole place."
I looked at the time and it's past ten o'clock at night, if I go now I think I can be back by midnight. I hurried and left the house, looked for my car and got in.
On the way, I thought about what I really wanted to do, I think making a nice path of petals to the bed is the best option, then a heart with our initials inside.
I arrived at the apartment and as I parked, I realized that Jhonny's car was here. I smiled thinking that maybe we had the same idea, he has a surprise for me.
Carefully, I opened the door, I was quiet to be able to surprise him. I walked through the living room and everything was dark, I continued through the kitchen and there was no sign of him. Where is he?
I saw a light coming from the hallway, as I peeked, I noticed that the bedroom door wasn't closed, he was there. It would be good for us to have one last night of passion as singles.
I started tiptoeing closer, but there was a noise that wasn't very encouraging.
"Oh, yes... Oh..."
Those were the moans of a woman, something that made my heart jump.
"Say that you're mine," I hear my fiancé's voice.
After his voice, there is a loud slap that resonates.
My breathing quickens, I sped up my steps and kicked the door open.
