Troy's POV
Our encounter was like a magnetic pull. I felt it, I lived in it.
I held her hand and immediately felt the mate bond. It was surreal and I was dazed. It was so strong that I couldn't deny it. But she looked human, she didn't smell like a wolf.
I could have sworn I would be able to smell a wolf from a mile away.
I should have smelt her but I didn't.
She was drenched, shivering in the cold. Her eyes spoke louder than the thunder and her eyes, brighter than the lightning.
I needed to know her, but at that moment I wanted to walk away.
I couldn't, her shivering body stopped me from going, her bleeding eyes arrested my soul.
What if she's my mate - I thought for a second.
Then meeting her was a chance to break the curse, my curse.
"She will be fine. Don't cry so hard." I assured and I looked straight at her. "If this hospital's blood bank doesn't have her type of blood, then we will search elsewhere. We search the whole of the country if need be."
My words were comforting, exactly what she needed to hear and exactly what I needed to say. I needed to get close to her, to know if she was the one destined to break my curse, my savior.
"What if she's just human? It's the full moon Troy, she wasn't in her wolf form. I think you shouldn't get involved."
Ambrose opposed me as I optioned to get closer to Daphne.
"I know Ambrose. Maybe there's a reason behind her not shifting in her wolf. I want to know what it is." I refuted as I paced to and fro outside her room.
She had fallen unconscious. She was cold, dripping wet from being in the thunderstorm all night. I felt a heavy burden in my heart as I carried her unconscious body in my arms.
"So what's your plan? How are you going to find out if she's your mate or not." He seemed worried, maybe because he had witnessed my pain.
The pain the curse had brought upon me. I was cursed by the moon goddess, disowned by my father and casted out of my pack after I was accused of my brother's death.
A death I knew nothing about.
The curse stopped me from shifting into my wolf, it kept my wolf captive.
And with the inability to shift into my wolf, came horrible nightmares.
The heavy, dark curse could only be broken if I met my true mate.
A hybrid, half witch and half werewolf.
"I plan to get really close to her. She doesn't really trust me, I can sense it. I will leave her with no other choice than to run to me for help."
He arched his brow in confusion and I shrugged.
"Her sick mother Ambrose. She will do anything for her sick mother and I will do anything to break my curse." I explained, my voice stern. "I will offer to pay off all her debts and pay for her mother's continuous treatment. And in exchange, she will have to live with me."
I had done a bit of research. The hospital's receptionist was ready to spill all she knew about Daphne after I waved a bundle of dollar bills in her face.
"How are you sure she's going to agree? Besides, if she's a hybrid, she wouldn't have let those thugs steal her money."
Ambrose's points were valid. A hybrid was known as one of the most powerful beings to ever walk the earth. But the Daphne I met that night, was nothing but a weak human mistreated by the cruel word.
"She has no choice, Ambrose. I need answers as much as I need to break my curse. If she's truly a hybrid, then I need her by my side." I explained, my mind contemplating on how the hell I skipped my nightmares the night after meeting Daphne.

"I'm Daphne's friend, a very good friend." I gave a grin to her mother as I heard approaching footsteps. There was anxiety on her face and I enjoyed how uneasy my presence made her.
"Why are you helping me? Why did you help save my mother?" She asked, her anxiety visible on her face.
"I'm willing to help you keep your mother alive. I'm willing to pay off your student loan and other debts. I will do all these only for a fair price."
Just like I expected, she asked me what I wanted. I was about making my proposal when her arrogant friend barged in. He ordered me to let go of her and his words left a smirk on my lips.
He pulled her away and I involuntarily pulled her back.
If she was indeed my mate, then no jerk should be allowed to breathe the air around her.
And just then, I smelt him.
He was a werewolf.
Things were about to get interesting.
"Come stay with me and I will help keep your mother alive. Stay with me in my mansion and I will pay off all your debts."
Her eyes widened and I knew she couldn't resist my proposal.
"So what do you say, Daphne? Do you accept my offer?"
A frown settled on the wolf's face as I glared at him.
"You cannot blackmail her into staying with you. You have to stay away from her." He growled and I chuckled darkly.
"You should let her speak. I'm no threat to her."
She pulled away from his drip and faced me and could see him fighting to keep his wolf from manifesting.
"I will accept your proposal only on one condition." She mumbled and I smirked.
