Chapter Three: The New Mrs. Cage

“What?” Anna asked, her eyebrows raised as she looked at Lucas with both a curious and a shocked gaze.
“Follow me.” Lucas said as he stopped eating and stood up.
With her mind still racing as Anna tried to figure out what Lucas meant by his last statement. She stood up and followed him out of private room.
Just as they were walking out of the room, Lucas turned to her and asked, “Where should I wire the money to?”
Still shocked and disoriented, Anna brought out her phone and showed him her account number and details. Lucas called one of his bodyguards over who took the phone from Anna and started the transfer. Anna watched with baited breath, her mind was still reeling from the huge amounts of money that she was about to receive.
“Transfer done boss.” The bodyguard said before handing Anna’s phone back to her.
“Thank you Collins.” Lucas replied before turning around and walking out.
“Wait for me.” Anna said as she increased her pace and moved after him, she had just seen the alert so her mind was beginning to calm down.
“What?” Lucas asked,
“What is your wife like? How does she act? I need to know so that I can accurately imitate her.” Anna said,
“My wife acts like you.” Lucas replied with a smile.
“I don’t understand.” Anna went over his words trying to make sense of it.
“You see, I don’t exactly have a wife and that’s why I said this was a trial run.” Lucas replied.
“Okay then,” Anna replied with a nod, “What kind of wife is someone of your status expected to have?”
For the first time since they met, Lucas really looked deep into Anna’s eyes, “You are the wife of Lucas Cage, as my wife, you must be assertive and dominant. You must be recognizable.”
“Is that all?” Anna asked,
“Like I said, you are Mrs. Cage now, there’s nothing in life that you do not have, you do not care about money. As long as you want something, you would get it. Remember that and you should be fine.” Lucas said as he raised his hand to her hair and tucked one of the strands behind her ear.
Anna felt a shiver run down her spine when Lucas touched her.
“Though I do have some advice for you,” Lucas continued with a steely gaze, “Whatever happens during your trial run, do not be scared and under no circumstances must you break character. Can you do that?”
With his sharp heavy gaze piercing at her, Anna swallowed and gaze a short nod.
“Good,” Lucas said with a smile on his face, “The Mrs. Cage should not dress like this, let’s get you changed,”
Lucas took Anna by her hand and practically dragged her to another private room which Anna realized was an entire closet room.
“Did you rent the entire floor?” Anna asked as she saw the way he walked around the floor.
“I own the hotel.” Lucas answered with a chuckle,
“Of course.” Anna muttered under her breath.
“So, what dress would you want?” Lucas asked as he took a seat and watched Anna look through the stacks of clothes while the attendants he hired helped her choose.
“Something red.” Anna replied,
“Why?”
“Because that’s what Mrs. Cage would wear.” Anna answered as she pointed at multiple red gowns and took a seat besides Lucas.
“You still haven’t asked where exactly we are going.” Lucas said,
“Does it matter?” Anna asked,
“No, it does not.” Lucas replied with his charming smile.
“What about this ma?” One of the attendants asked interrupting their conversation.
Anna looked up to see the attendant holding a long red gown, “That’s good.” Anna said as she took the gown from the attendants hands before walking straight into the changing room.
When Anna came fully dressed a couple of minutes later, Lucas was smiling.
“She looks like a fierce beast, she is absolutely perfect.” Lucas thought
“Where are the jewelries?” Anna asked the attendants as she walked around in the gown.
The flustered attendants hurriedly followed after Anna while showing her anything she wanted. Anna was not flustered by Lucas looking at her while she did all of this. She was currently in her acting mindset. Since she was supposed to be his wife, then she was going to act like one. And a wife would not be ashamed if her husband was looking at her the way Lucas was staring.
By the time Anna was finished, she was wearing the red gown, and multiple gold bangles and bracelets with a pair of diamond earrings.
“What do you think?” Anna asked as she walked up to him.
Lucas watched Anna move around the place like she actually owned the place. He was impressed with how easily it was for Anna to get into her role as his wife. As he surveyed the woman who was now acting as his wife, he could not help but admit that she had good taste in fashion. She looked absolutely stunning. Her long dark hair perfectly complimented the outfit.
“You look absolutely stunning.” Lucas answered truthfully.
“Good,” Anna replied before walking back and conversing with the attendants, the next thing Lucas knew she was sitting down on a chair and doing her make-up. It did not take Anna long to finish her make up before they were ready to leave.
“You know that took way more than 20 minutes right?” Lucas asked with a smile.
“Whomever we are going to meet can wait right?” She asked,
“Of course.” Lucas replied as he offered her his arm which she took.
It took them a couple more minutes for Lucas to talk to his bodyguards before they all got into the elevator to the down floor. They all boarded 3 bulletproof jeeps with Anna and Lucas sitting in the middle one.
As she sat in the back seat of the car, Anna found herself almost dozing off. She had been working since morning and her stint at the wedding party was exhausting, so she was very tired. Anna brought out her phone and started scrolling through social media in a bid to stave off sleep. Just as Anna was about to succumb to the solace of sleep, she felt the car screech to a stop.
Anna looked up from her phone and looked outside the tinted car window. They had arrived in a warehouse of some sorts. The place was completely secluded and she could hardly see any buildings around.
“Now that we are here, I can tell you about the deal.” Lucas said, breaking the silence in the car. “There’s an important transaction that I want to complete but the client, I do not want to do this myself for personal reasons. So, you will go there on my behalf and buy a package for me. No matter the cost or how much she asks for, just say yes and receive the package. Can you do that?”
Anna swallowed and nodded, “Yes I can. But who would I be meeting?”
Anna was not stupid, If the location alone had not triggered her, the fact that he was paying this much was enough evidence for her to know that the package must be an illegal product.
“Don’t worry about it.” Lucas replied, “You will be transacting directly with Mrs. Victoria.”
“Is it safe?” Anna asked,
“Collins and Jeff would follow you in for your protection. Like I said, don’t worry about it, it is just a simple pick up and pay.”
“Alright,” Anna answered as she opened her car door and stepped out. Even though Anna was very nervous inside, she made sure to act as confident as she could.
With Collins and Jeff flanking her, they all walked up to the warehouse door, The moment she reached the entrance, Anna could see a tall woman who was surrounded by a male guard looking straight towards her.
“This is the broker, Josephine, she is here to ensure that the package is in perfect order.” Collins said as he gestured towards the woman. Anna’s eyes snapped towards the broker and she beckoned the woman over with her finger.
Josephine stared deeply at Anna as she walked over, “Good evening Mrs. Cage.” Josephine said greeting Anna. “My name is Josephine Kline and I would be your broker for today.”
All Anna did was nod as she took a step towards her and clasped her hands. “Good evening.”
In the car parked further away, Lucas watched all of this with a smile on his face, “She is adapting better than I hoped she would.” He muttered under his breath. Depending on how well she does, Lucas was already planning on keeping her long term.
“My phone.” Lucas ordered, One of his bodyguards rushed and brought him his phone.
Lucas dialed a number, “Find out all you can about Anna. I need the information now.” He ordered before ending the call.
“But boss, is Mrs. Victoria not too bloody for a newbie like Anna to deal with?” The bodyguard asked.
“And that’s why this would be a good fit for her.” He answered,
“If she’s going to work for me, I need to know exactly how good she is.” Lucas continued with a grin on his face.
