LENA'S POV It had been three weeks since the battle, and I was finally starting to recover my sense of preoccupation. We were marked by a sacrifice that extended beyond the physical limits of our being. But as each day went by, I got a little stronger. Every day the world felt a fraction less daunting. With reports to go over, I sat in Lucien's private study with my hand splayed on my swollen belly. There was no reason for her to suspect that much; my pregnancy had gone along surprisingly healthily in light of all I’d been through. The baby was active, kicking often as if ready to participate in the world we were creating.
