Silas's POV
I didn't understand what was going on with Lia that made her act weird. She was acting differently, and I didn't quite understand what was going on with her.
“Calm down, what's wrong, take a deep breath,” I said, staring at her with a questioning gaze.
She smiled and paused for a while catching her breath.
“Now speak.” I motioned, walking closer to her, wondering what all of this was about.
I initially woke up early that morning, and she was still fast asleep. I knew she had a lot to take in last night as I knew it took her a while for her to fall asleep.
I didn't want to disturb her because she was tired at night, and we were going to need energy to continue the journey.
I didn't know exactly what to say to her about the discovery yesterday. I blamed myself for telling her, but she wasn't dumb, and I knew she knew what she was saying.
M
She had already made some findings, as indeed, she was very observant. She was going to find out sooner or later, so I just wanted it to be from me.
I didn't have any intention of explaining what I was doing here and why I wasn't with my Beta or guards, which I knew she was very pleased to know about.
There was no way I was going to explain it to her so that she would possibly understand me. I didn't want to go into details because no one understands me better than myself.
Lia, on the other hand, seemed free, and I felt she told me everything about her already, but that couldn't be everything. Every man had secrets not to talk of me and these secrets of mine I wasn't ready to reveal.
I had a feeling it was going to affect the way we interacted, and I didn't want that to happen.
She was just so fun and pure and there was just something about her that I wanted to be around all the time. Her aura was peaceful and she was my friend. Without knowing my status or anything, she was nice and supportive, and I didn't want that to change.
I could stall for all I wanted because now of all times, it wasn't the best for me to say anything to her.
“Silas?" I heard a familiar tone call out to me, and it was then I realized I was so lost in thought and didn't realize Lia was still standing in front of me. I finally snapped back to reality to listen to what she was saying.
“What's wrong with you? What were you thinking about that got you so lost in thought?” She inquired with a very gentle and concerned look plastered on her face.
“Nothing, I was just thinking about something.” I immediately got mustard, but I didn't think she had bought it.
“I was saying something and all of a sudden you just went off. Are you sure there's nothing wrong?”
“There’s nothing wrong, what were you saying?” I said, trying to divert her attention from my thoughts. I knew she didn’t seem convinced, but she decided not to push further, and I appreciated that.
“Okay, I thought you were gone because of what happened yesterday, and I was surprised, I must say.” She said with a slight chuckle, but I could see the seriousness in her tone.
What would she be scared of? And as a matter of fact, she didn’t do anything to me that would warrant me leaving her. If she was seriously thinking about the discussion we had yesterday, I honestly didn’t bother about that.
She found that, and I knew there was no need for me to lie to her. After all, I was the one to admit to it because I could have denied it initially. I just saw her as someone transparent and there was no need for me to lie to her.
“Why would I go? You overthink things a lot, there’s no reason for me to do that.” I said, chuckling slightly.
She went back to sit down as I walked slowly behind her. I knew she was about to bring the conversation up again, and I wasn’t quite sure I was ready for it.
I honestly didn’t want to say anything, not because I didn’t trust her, but because it was the best decision. I didn’t want anything to be complicated, and I had a feeling it was going to be if I told her.
I just wanted it plain, with no complications, but I feared all that would change when she knew everything. Maybe later, but now, I just want to stay anonymous in that aspect.
“So are you ready to tell me everything? I mean there’s no need for you to hide it from you.” She mustered as I tried to avoid her gaze. I knew her aura would draw me in and might be compelled to just tell her.
“Lia…I don’t want you to think I don’t trust you or something, I do, but I don’t think that’s necessary.” I started and stared into her confused countenance.
I didn’t know how she was going to take it, but this was for the best, for both of us.
“What’s that supposed to mean? Why isn’t it necessary? Why do I feel you’re hiding something you’re not supposed to tell me about? I don’t see anything wrong with your position and I respect it alongside your hospitality.” She said with a smile that melted me.
“Thank you for that, Lia, but you'll never understand this, so there’s no point in me explaining it. I just feel things are okay just the way they are. We don’t need to push anything or inquire more than this.“
I could see the dejected look on her face and I felt bad, but I still knew this was the best thing to do.
“It’s fine.” She said with a smile that I instantly knew was fake.
