Lilian's expression changed. Without asking any further questions, she quickly thanked them and rushed home. At this time, Evan and Jem had just gone to the pub; only her mother, Adele, and little Evan were at home!
The tall, strong young man walked closely behind Lilian and followed her.
Before Lilian even got close to her house, she saw Lily and her mother Renee blocking her doorway, shouting insults at her.
"Your Lilian is a shameless s**t! She used her beauty to bewitch young master Parish and stole the job that should have been my daughter's! How could you raise such a shameless daughter? Goddess above, you should be banished to the demon realm!"
Lily, tears streaming down her face, complained, "That's my job! Lilian is shameless; she stole my job!"
The mother and daughter were shouting curses at Lilian 's doorstep. Guy stood there, her face pale with anger, but she couldn't bring herself to curse. She could only helplessly deny, " Lilian isn't the kind of person you're talking about..."
Seeing this, Lilian was so angry that her eyes welled up with tears.
This mother and daughter are really picking on the weak, actually bullying her gentle mother!
Looking around, Lilian spotted a shovel belonging to someone else by the roadside. She picked it up, turned it around, and then, wielding the wooden handle, struck the mother and daughter.
Lily and Renee were engrossed in their argument when they were caught off guard by a sneak attack from behind and were hit squarely, crying out in surprise as they dodged.
Lilian stood at her front door, shovel in hand, glaring at Lily and Renee. She shouted, "Lily, you were eliminated by Lady Mary for yelling at her, how can you blame me? You're shameless! You're also followers of the goddess, how dare you lie under her watchful eye? The goddess will never forgive you!"
True believers wouldn't casually mention the goddess like Lilian does, but she had to use the goddess's name to shut Lily up.
Of course, she didn't believe a word of what she said. If the goddess truly watched over this land, why hadn't the demons watching her been destroyed yet?
Lily did lie to her mother about her elimination. She didn't say that she had been eliminated before she learned that Lilian had been arranged by young master Parish, but instead blamed everything on Lilian .
Therefore, upon hearing Lilian mention the goddess, Lily panicked for a moment, then immediately said, "I...I'm not lying! It was you who seduced Young Master Parish that made you work in the kitchen!"

Renee was much calmer than Lily. She didn't even pay attention to Lilian 's mention of the goddess, but glared at Lilian and shouted angrily, "Do you know how many good words I said to get Lily's aunt to recommend Lily? That was supposed to be Lily's job, but you stole it from her, you b***h!"
Guy was shielded behind Lilian . She looked at Lilian with some concern , then at Renee, her anger making her clench her teeth. Just as she was about to step forward, Lilian stopped her.
Lilian has been in this world for several days now and knows Guy's personality very well. Guy isn't good at this kind of arguing with people, so it's up to Lilian to handle it.
“Mom, trust me,” Lilian said, looking at Guy.
Guy looked into Lilian 's sky-blue eyes, which she had inherited from him, and sensed a different kind of power in them. He nodded blankly and then stepped back.
Lilian still carried the shovel. Having a weapon for self-defense greatly emboldened her. She looked at Renee coldly and said, "It's clearly your daughter who's useless and was eliminated by Lady Mary. Why blame others? If I had seduced Young Master Parish, I would have been his mistress long ago. Why would I need to work in the kitchen?"
The customs of this world are different from those of the ancient East that Lilian is familiar with; they are more open about s*x. Being someone's mistress is indeed despicable, but if a commoner becomes the mistress of a nobleman, the other commoners will only envy, or even be jealous, why their daughters aren't the ones who have such good fortune.
