Sophie
I was still, eyes widened in surprise when I found out Alexander was the new investor. When Nick told me one of his close friends was willing to invest in the company, I thought maybe it would be someone else with the same name.
But damn, no. He was the same man, Alexander Fox, who had been haunting my dreams for days. Seeing him after so long awakened something inside me, it felt good.
He also looked shocked, like he wasn't expecting me either.
"Sophie, he is my friend Alexander Fox, CEO of the Fox group, and Alex, she is Sophie, my best and favourite employee."
Alexander's expression tightened. Some emotion flickered across his face but he quickly schooled his features and stood, offering me a polite smile that never quite reached his eyes. Did he forget me, or didn't he like seeing me here? To break the awkwardness I offered my hand.
"Hello, Mr. Fox, nice to meet you." My tone was purely professional. Good Sophie, I praised myself.
He stood and took my hand, shaking it softly. His hand was rough and large.
"Hello, Miss Sophie." His voice was soft. A familiar spark ran through my body, made me gulped nothing. This man affected me like no one ever before.
I smiled and pulled my hand back. His expression was unreadable.
"Have a seat, Sophie." Nick's voice calmed me. Without glancing back at Alexander I sat in the last chair and placed the contract papers in front of Nick. He studied them and slid them across to Alexander.
"Here you go, man, read then sign."
Something stirred inside me. My breaths were coming uneven. The man sitting beside me was the sole reason, his classy, familiar perfume.. was corrupting my brain. I stood abruptly.
"Umm... okay Nick, I'll take my leave now."
Nick's eyebrows knitted together but he nodded. I felt Alexander's gaze fixed on me. Without looking at him I walked out, and when I reached my cabin I closed the door and rested my back against it.
I placed my hand on my heart, and f**k me because it was still racing. That man held some kind of power over me. His One look and my p***y ached. And the most unsettling thing was why he reminded me so much of dear daddy. Even his perfume was similar. Was there any possibility that Alexander was the same man I spent that passionate night with?
Nah, I didn't think so, but why did his whole presence feel so familiar?
Ahh. I grabbed my hair in frustration. Forget it, Sophie. Focus on work.
I took a look at my new presentation but couldn't focus. My headache kept getting worse. Coffee. I needed coffee.
I made my way to the second floor and stepped into the lift. Before the doors could close, a masculine hand stopped them.
The air left my lungs, ready to choke me.
Alexander stepped in. Our eyes collided as he stood close to me.
"Hello, Miss Sophie. It's been a long time, I hope you remember me"
I forced a smile. "Yes. How are you?"
"Fine, and you"
"I am good" My voice wavered at the end of my own answer.
"I didn't know you worked here," he said.
God, why was he making conversation? Couldn't he just ignore me the way he did before?
"Yes, Mr. Fox. I also didn't know you'd be our next investor."
"Yeah me too" He let out a chuckle and honestly, the man looked damn handsome when he smiled. When the lift reached the floor I rushed toward the canteen to put some distance between us.
When I took my coffee from the machine Alexander appeared again and stood beside me. Wait, was he following me? I raised my brow at him.
"Can I?" He nodded toward the machine.
"Ohh..Of course, Mr. Fox." I moved aside, slightly embarrassed. And here I thought he was following me. Why would he? I had nothing special. Whatever attraction existed was only on my side. If he felt the same he wouldn't have stopped visiting his club. I didn't know why but pain gripped my heart again.
I sat in the corner chair and took a sip. I almost moaned. The caffeine tasted so good. I didn't dare glance in his direction.
"Can I sit here?"
My head snapped up.
He stood there with his cup, looking down at me with a soft gaze. God, he was still here.Ahh not again.
"Yes," was all I managed.
He took the chair across from me.
"Are you still going to the club?" he asked, setting his cup on the table.
"Sometimes." I kept it short. His proximity was getting into my skin.
A few seconds of silence passed.
"Nick told me you're a very hardworking girl. His best employee."
A smile crept onto my lips. "Yes, Nick considers me his best employee. And friend." I giggled at the end.
But Alexander's eyes darkened. His expression dropped before he quickly masked it. What was that about? He just nodded.
When I finished my coffee I stood.
"Okay."
He just looked at me. Like he wanted to say something.
I practically ran. This time I took the stairs.
Back at my desk I let my head fall against my chair and stared at the ceiling. My brain drifted over everything that had happened these past few months and I realised just how messy my life had become. Especially Alexander. He was nobody to me, Sophie, you b***h Stop it.
Maybe a good f**k was exactly what I needed to clear my head.
With a slightly shaking hand I opened the Fantasy app and typed a message to dear daddy.
Me: 'Can we meet again this weekend'
I hit send before I could second guess it. Wait. Did I just do this? No hello, no well being. But I guessed that was appropriate. Mutual benefit. Pure physics relationship, Nothing else.
After a few minutes my screen lit up. My lips curved slightly upward.
Dear daddy had replied.
