Chapter 1

1073 Words
Amaka's POV: It was my eighteenth birthday. I'd just graduated from college, and Joseph was my boyfriend. He wouldn't leave me alone, begging and bugging me nonstop to have s*x. I'd told him I wanted to wait until after we got married, but Joseph wouldn't hear it. He kept saying I didn't love him enough, and that's why I wouldn't sleep with him. I finally agreed, and here I was in a hotel room with him. I was your typical shy blonde girl, super fair-skinned, but Joseph was the total opposite. He had dark skin, he was taller than me, and he was drop-dead handsome. He had thick black hair, and I loved him so much. Joseph Ericson came from a really rich family right here in Palazo town where we lived, while my parents were just average workers. So we weren't anywhere near as well-off as Joseph's family. Joseph had promised to marry me. He was 21, studying business management at the university, and I was still getting ready to apply and join him there. I'd lied to my mom, saying I was going to see a friend—even though I was supposed to be prepping for my university admission exam. I snuck into this hotel to meet Joseph, and here we were. "Mmm! Ahh!" I moaned as Joseph thrust into me faster. He moaned in my ear, "Yes, babe. You are so sweet." He finally reached his c****x and came inside me. "Joseph, it hurts," I cried as he kissed me softly and sat beside me on the hotel bed. "I'm sorry, my love. I'll forever cherish this," Joseph said, cupping my pretty face as he kissed my forehead. "I can't seem to get enough of you. I wish we could get married right now so I wouldn't have to leave you," he added. I wiped my teary eyes and stared at his handsome face while we lay there on the hotel bed. "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked him, and he sighed. "Look, Amaka, I want you to know I love you so much. But my family and I are moving to the city next week. You know my dad owns a big company there. He told my siblings and me that he bought a new mansion, so that means I'll be going with them. We might not get to see each other again." My eyes welled up with tears as I heard Joseph say that. "But you'll still call me on the phone, right?" I asked, trying to convince myself that Joseph wouldn't head to the city and fall for some other girl. I loved him so much. He was like the air I breathed. My heart and soul needed him. "I promise, I won't forget about you. Any time I'm on vacation, I'll come back to see you. I'll just stay in a hotel, okay? You're my wife—stop crying." Joseph wiped my tears and pulled me closer on the bed, kissing my lips again. I was crying and not in the mood to kiss him back. "Why not take me home with you? Tell your parents I'm your girlfriend and you want to marry me. You've been hiding me this whole time and won't even introduce me to your mom," I said. I knew that every time I suggested coming to his family house to see him, he'd refuse. None of his siblings even knew we were dating, and it felt so weird chatting online with his brother and trying to introduce myself as Joseph's girlfriend. *My big brother isn't in any relationship,* Aaron would say. Joseph had kept me hidden, and I had no idea how long he planned to keep it that way. "No, Amy. I promise, when the time is right, I'll take you home and introduce you to my family. If I do it now, my parents will get mad and give my inheritance to my little brother. I have to get established first, and after that, I promise we'll get married," Joseph said, wiping away my sobs. I wished I could believe him, but I had this nagging feeling that he was lying to me. Was he lying? Did he have another girl in his life? My heart felt so heavy—I'd just lost my virginity to him, and now all these doubts were hitting me. Joseph kissed my lips again and thrust into me before my brain could even process asking him anything. I moaned with each deep thrust, but then he took me to cloud nine with him. *** Four years later. Amaka's POV: "Mom, when are you taking me to school?" my three-year-old son asked me. He was so smart and sharp—way more than I ever was. "Jason, you're still a baby and not ready for school yet," I told him as I got ready for my new job interview. "That's a lie, Mom!" Jason shouted. I sighed and rolled my eyes, standing by the mirror in my room, combing my long blonde hair and spritzing on my orange perfume. "Jason, why would Mommy lie to you? Have you ever seen a baby going to school? You gotta stay home with my friend," I said, and he frowned. "Mommy..." Jason burst out crying hard, and my best friend, Maureen Austin, came into the room. "What's going on here, Amaka? What did you do to my little husband?" Maureen asked, scooping Jason up into her arms. After I got pregnant, my parents kicked me out and refused to pay for my education anymore. I tried calling Joseph to tell him I was pregnant, but guess what? He blocked my number and told me to get rid of it—he wasn't ready to be a dad. I couldn't do that. I had to beg Maureen for help. She was a tailor and into blogging, so she talked to her mom—who was a single parent—and her mom let me move in with them. Later, I started my own blogs too, just like Maureen suggested. She said I could do it as a part-time gig from home. Now my page has a million followers because I made a cute baby page for Jason and post adorable pics of him. So many fans love Jason. He's fair-skinned just like me, but while I have long blonde hair, he has short light brown hair.
