A few days later
In a private house, Alex sat relaxed in a leather armchair, swirling a drink in his hand. His expression was unreadable.
Kevin entered.
“Alex, they’re here.”
A group of men walked in, led by a sharp-eyed man in an expensive suit.
Mob Boss:
“You know we’ve all been using these diamonds to launder money, right? But you… You’ve been distracted lately. Sloppy. I’m reporting you to the boss.”
Alex chuckled. Calm. Unbothered.
Mob Boss (furious):
“What the hell are you laughing at, you arrogant little—”
Before he could finish, Alex punched him square in the jaw, sending him crashing into a table.
Alex (coldly):
“Don’t waste time threatening me. If you’ve got a problem, complain directly to the top.”
The man groaned, wiping blood from his mouth.
Mob Boss: “I will. Believe me—I will.”
He stormed out with his men and got into his car.
BOOM!
The car exploded in flames just seconds later.
Kevin flinched.
“I was just about to ask how you stayed so calm…”
Alex smirked, putting on his sunglasses.
“You don’t threaten Haltons and walk away.”
He stepped outside, staring at the burning wreck with no emotion.
Alex: “Let’s go. Time to pay the company a visit.”
The fire burned behind him as he walked into the shadows.
Alex stepped into the company headquarters, fixing his suit as he entered the boardroom. But he stopped cold at the sight before him.
Amanda sat confidently at the table, next to Jack, flipping through a file. She looked up and smirked.
Alex (cold):
“What the hell are you doing here?”
Amanda (smiling):
“Told you we’d see each other again. I’m your new business partner.”
She extended her hand toward him.
Alex:
“Really? Great. Sell me your shares, and I’ll buy them all. Name your price.”
Jack (to Amanda):
“He’ll pay anything. Take the offer.”
Amanda:
“No.I won’t ”
Alex’s eyes narrowed.
“Oh, you’ll sell them. One day.”
He turned and stormed out of the room.
Amanda followed him down the hallway.
Amanda:
“Aren’t you the least bit curious about who really killed your wife and my brother?”
Alex (without looking at her):
“Still stuck on that, huh?”
Amanda:
“If it were your sister who died, wouldn’t you want answers?”
Alex stopped suddenly. Her words had hit.
Amanda (softer now):
“Do you get it now?”
Without warning, Alex grabbed her arm and pushed her gently against the wall. His face close.
Alex (quietly but threatening):
“Stay away from my family.”
Amanda (unshaken):
“Then help me. Tell me who your wife was spending time with. Did she have enemies? Someone who hated her?”
Alex:
“Drop it. Stay out of my way.”
He let go of her arm roughly and walked off.
Amanda (calling after him):
“You won’t be able to run from me, Mr. Halton.”
Alex entered his office and, in a burst of rage, threw everything from his desk to the floor.
On the rooftop of the company building…
Alex stood at the edge, staring out at the city, his breathing heavy.
Iris stepped into the wind beside him.
Iris:
“Alex. Are you okay?”
Alex:
“I’m fine.”
Iris (gently):
“I know there’s a pain in you that no one sees. You loved Dianna… even if you won’t admit it.”
Alex:
“You know what really kills me? That I never confronted her. I never got to ask her why.”
He turned to her, his face empty of emotion.
“And what are you doing here?”
Iris:
“I came to ask when the next diamond shipment is scheduled.”
Alex:
“Talk to Kevin.”
Iris:
“Okay…”
She hesitated before walking away.
The Everhart family was having dinner, but the atmosphere was anything but peaceful.
Bernard slammed his fork down.
Bernard:
“So now you just show up, decide to work at the company, and act like you’ll carry the Everhart name on your back? You’ve been gone for years, Amanda. Years in Miami, and no one knew what you were really doing. And now you think you can just walk in and take charge?”
Amanda:
“I— I just wanted to help.”
Bernard (snapping):
“Save it.”
Harry (firmly):
“Father, that’s enough. Amanda is more than capable.”
Brianna (smirking):
“She’s never led a company before. In fact, this is probably the first time she’s even been inside the building.”
Amanda (cold):
“No one was speaking to you.”
Harry:
“Amanda, please…”
Amanda:
“Everywhere I go, I have to prove myself…”
Brianna (mocking):
“Do what you want. Don’t expect support from me.”
Amanda stood up and left the table.
Harry:Brianna look what you did!
Brianna furios left the table and stepped onto the balcony alone, tears brimming in her eyes.
Jack walked out moments later, softly.
Jack(low voice):
“Are you okay?”
Brianna:
“I can’t believe this is the family I came home to…”
Jack (looking at her deeply):
“You don’t belong here,Brianna. You’re too young… too smart… too beautiful for all of this. You deserve better than this cold house. Honestly, I don’t think Harry ever deserved you.”
He leaned in and kissed her gently.
Brianna (whispering):
“Jack, someone might see us.”
Jack (grinning):
“Let them.”
They both laughed quietly, slipping away into the night.
At the police station…
Owen stood over his desk, holding a small velvet pouch.
Owen:
“There’s something off about that location…”
Emma (sarcastic):
“Now you notice?”
Owen (placing something on the desk):
“I went back today. Look what I found.”
Emma’s eyes widened.
“Are those… diamonds?”
Owen (nodding):
“Real ones. And guess what— Alex Halton is behind it. His family owns the largest diamond and jewelry empire in the state. That abandoned building was one of their secret drop-off spots.”
Emma (sitting up straight):
“So they’re using the jewelry business to launder money?”
Owen:
“Exactly. And if we can prove it, we’ll have enough to bring Alex Halton down—for murder and organized crime.”
Emma (determined):
“Let’s bury him.”
Amanda and Jack were walking through a luxurious hotel lobby.
Amanda:
“So, the Halton family owns this hotel too?”
Jack:
“Yeah. The Haltons are our new business partners.”
Amanda:
“And what exactly do they deal in?”
Jack:
“We own the hotels. They deal in… everything else.”
He sighed.
Jack:
“To be honest, we were on the edge of bankruptcy. They saved us at the last minute.”
Amanda nodded, but her attention shifted when she heard loud voices coming from behind a closed conference room door.
She peeked through the c***k—Alex and Tyler were inside, mid-argument.
Tyler (furious):
“The diamonds are fake.”
Alex (shocked):
“What?!There’s no way.”
Tyler (yelling):
“You think I’m joking with you!?We were working together I trusted you i want my own diamonds back!”
Tyler leaned in.
“Don’t forget… your sister is in my hands.”
Alex (grabbing him):
“What? Ella? What the hell did you do?!”
Alex punched Tyler across the face. Tyler’s guards quickly raised their guns.
Alex (shouting):
“I swear, I’ll kill you! Let her go!”
Tyler (smirking):
“Bring me my real diamonds, and you can have your precious sister back.”
Kevin stepped in.
“Alex… did you tell Dianna about the diamonds?”
Alex froze.
Kevin (serious):
“Did you tell her? Why?!”
Meanwhile, Ella was locked in a dark room.
Simon one of the kidnappers walked in.
“Aw, poor little princess. Still waiting for big brother to come save you?”
Ella (angrily):
“My brother will kill you.”
Simon (grinning):
“Let’s hope not. You’re way too pretty to waste.”
Back outside the hotel, Alex stormed through the doors.
Amanda stepped in front of him.
Amanda:
“Let me help.”
Alex (surprised):
“You again?”
Amanda:
“I think I know where the real diamonds are.”
Alex (skeptical):
“And why the hell should I trust you?”
Amanda (calmly):
“They’re probably where Dianna hid them. She was going to use them to escape. I’m sure of it.”
Alex (tense):
“You know something.”
Amanda:
“Maybe she and David died because of those diamonds. You want the diamonds… I want the killer.”
She offered her hand.
Amanda:
“So what do you say, partner?”
Alex stared at her hand.
Then at her.
There was silence—just the sound of distant traffic and the echo of too many secrets between them.
Finally, Alex reached out and shook her hand.
“Fine. Partner.”
At that moment, Amanda saw a police officer nearby—an old colleague of hers.
Then she noticed Alex watching, and panic struck her.
She was terrified he’d find out everything—her secret—that she was a cop.
She tried to think of another solution, any way to distract him.
But only one thing came to her mind.
Amanda grabbed Alex and kissed him.
Something had shifted.
And Amanda felt it deep in her chest.
She had walked in to destroy him.
But what if the man she came to ruin… wasn’t the man she thought he was?
