Heiress 7: Camping Preparations

Jess’s POV        

We are currently packing our bags for the camping. Bukas na siya so I have to pack up na.

Malay ko ba kay Lav kung bakit gusto sumama. I mean we’ll always be there to support her naman eh but minsan she’s magulo and mahirap basahin.

Kasi naman like duh! Mas mahirap ang mga assassin and mafia mission than this camp kaya.

But I almost forgot. Lavalee is Lavalee.

She loves all kinds of trouble.

“What the? CAMPING Jess. Camping, hindi vacation.” Sabi ni Irene pagkapasok sa kwarto ko

“So?” I raised an eyebrow

She’s going to barge in here tapos mang-aasar at mamumuna lang.

“Michin! Two piece bathing suit, See through shirt, maong short? Are you serious?” tanong niya at tumawa pa

(Crazy!)

“Gwaenchanh-a? dangsin-eun hella keeohaji anhseubnida!” I rolled my eyes and she threw my sun block on my face making me hiss at her.

(Pake mo ba? You don’t hella care!)

“Sunblock pa, tag-ulan naman.” Pang-aasar niya pero di ko siya pinansin

Napaka pang-asar talaga. If kasama mo na siya for more than 2 year you’ll be used to it na pero minsan nakakasar

“Sana all may jowa noh? Jowang may love team! Brylea!” I glared at her and threw the kunai under my pillow

Sayang naiwasan. Tumama tuloy sa pader.

“Ay! Mali pala! Walang kayo! Oh gift.” sabi niya sabay spray ng pabango sa paligid

“BIANCA IRENE LEE!” asar na sigaw ko sa kanya

“Uh oh? Mali pala.” Sabi niya kaya pinagbabato ko siya ng shuriken

“Get out of my room! NOW!” sigaw ko sa kaniya

“Bago ko pa makalimutan, may bisita ka sa baba.” She said making my forehead knot

“Bisita? Who?” tanong ko at isinara ang maleta ko

“Actually. Bwisita.” She said teasingly and went out of my room

Bwisita? Mwoya?!

Nakakaasar. Amoy pabango tuloy ng lalaki ang kwarto ko!

Bumaba ako only to see a freaking asshole na nakikipagkamay like he’s some sort of candidate for presidency.

“Yeogiseo mwo haeyo, jeokeu? You’re not allowed here.” Pagtataray ko habang pababa

(What are you doing here, jerk?)

“I miss you too, Andrea.” Nakangising sabi niya at inambahan ako ng yakap

“Bryle!” inis kong saad sabay tulak sa kanya

(Dutch: Bryle! Just say what you want to say but make sure it’s important, dumbass!)

“I came here to see you, Andrea. Don’t you miss me? Kasi ako, I missed you.” Sabi niya kaya inirapan ko siya at nilampasan

“You should know by now na ang mami miss lang niyan ay ang pambabara sayo.” Natatawang sabi ni Lavalee

“Bakit ka nga ba nandito, Bry?” tanong ni Chelsea

“Pinuntahan ko nga si Jess.” Sagot niya kaya ibinato ko sa ulo niya ang unang nahawakan ko which is luckily a kunai

“Muntik na ang kagwapuhan ko, baby!” gulat na sabi niya sabay iwas

Kumain nalang ako ng agahan than to make myself stressed with that jerk.

“Peace offering.” Sabi niya sabay halik sa pisngi ko

“MINCHIN!” I hissed at him and threw my knife

“I advise na wag mong bwisitin si Jess, Bryle. Badtrip pa yan sa pang-aasar ni Irene kanina.” Sabi ni Chelsea kaya at last nilubayan rin ako ni Bryle.

I was able to enjoy my breakfast in peace. Thankfully, Lavalee told Bryle to do something so the pesky attention seeker left me alone.

After eating, I went back to my room to fix my things. I ignored the smell even if it’s damn annoying. Nakakasar! Next time I’ll ask Lavalee to put a password to all their rooms, not just their rooms.

Ibinalik ko sa closet ang mga damit na inilagay ko kanina because it smells like a damn men’s perfume because of Irene.

*KNOCK *KNOCK

“Ms. Jess, pinapatawag ka ni Ms. Lavalee.” I heard my assigned guard, Caspian said from the outside

“Pasok!” sabi ko dahil nag-aayos pa ako ng gamit.

Buti nalang talaga may dala akong maraming clothes.

“Ms. Jess – Jess.” I corrected

He’s not our employee so it’s unnecessary for him to call me ‘Ms. Jess’

“Ah. Pinapatawag ka ni Ms. Lavalee. Bakit nga pala amoy lalaki ang kwarto mo?” sabi niya

“Okay. Susunod ako.” Sagot ko at bumalik sa pag-aayos ng gamit

Lumabas na siya pagkatapos kaya inilock ko na yung door at kumha ng clothes.

I took a bath and went out and my eyes widened when I saw Bryle

He even have the audacity looked at me from head to toe!

“OUT!” sabi ko at inabot ang caliber .42 na nasa likod ng study table ko.

Binaril ko siya hanggang mapalabas na siya kakaiwas at agad na inilock yung door. I double locked it.

Napatingin ako sa keychain na nasa sahig. It’s not just a keychain, may mga keys rin.

Pinulot ko yun ang my forehead knotted when I saw it.

I smiled bitterly. Too late.

What the hell?!

Who in the world is doing that irritating sound.

I went out of my room and saw that even Irene and Jess did the same.

“Told yah!” parang tuwang tuwang sabi ni Lavalee nang makita kami

“Breakfast is ready. Ginising lang namin kayo dahil baka ma late tayo! Come on let’s go!” Sabi ni Lavalee habang nakapamewang.

Sometimes I’m wondering how she’s able to be classy and elegant while being her.

Noisy. Childish and bratty.

We followed her. Lahat kami ay nakapantulog pa, actually, sila lang dalawa ni Jace ang nakabihis na at ready nang umalis.

“Why so early, Lav?” tanong ko sabay upo sa upuan

“Because of this.” Sabi ni Jace at iniabot sa amin ang isang papel

“Just because of a damn game? Iba ka talaga, Lav.” Naiiling na sabi ni Irene

Yeah. It’s just because of a teambuilding game

“Para sure na tayo ang magkakagrupo.” Sabi niya

“Any updates, Chels?” baling niya kay Chelsea

“None. Kahit na anong gawin ko, wala talagang lumalabas, Lav. Mianhe.” Sagot ni Chelsea.

Disappoitment was written all over Lavalee’s always smiling face.

She shook her head.

“Sore o kitai shite ita hazudesu.” Bagsak ang balikat na sabi niya bago tumayo

“It’s been almost 4 years narin naman.” We heard her say bago umalis

Nagkatinginan kami bago nagpatuloy sa pagkain.

Sanay na kami. Ayaw ni Lavalee na pakialaman namin siya kapag ito ang topic. Butt in to any topic just not this. It’s kind of taboo. Lalo na kung nandito si Freia.

Agad kong sinagot ang phone ko.

[Joh-eun achim, eonni Jess!] a very cheerfull voice said

“Joh-eun achim-iya, jagiya.” Bati ko pabalik

(Good Morning, Jess!/Baby girl.)

“You’re up early.” I commented

[I should be saying that. Naega majdamyeon, ojeon 4:30ibnida.] sabi niya

(If I’m correct, it’s just 4:30 AM there.)

“It is but we have camping today so I really have to. Why did you call? Are you looking for Lavalee?” Sabi ko

[Eonni, geojismal hajima mul-eobwado doelkkayo? jebal geojismal hajima.] mahinang sabi ni Freia mula sa kabilang linya

(Eonni, don’t lie to me, please. Can I ask you something? Please, don’t lie.)

Napalunok naman ako ng wala sa oras. Di ko man nakikita si Freia ngayon, ramdam ko naman yung kaseryosohan at yung nakakatakot na aura niya mula sa boses niya.

“I – I w-won’t, Freia.” I answered

[Naleul wihae mueongaleul sasyeossseubnikka?] tanong niya

“Mwo? museun soli ya?” Naguguluhang sagot ko

(What? What do you mean?)

I breathed heavily and tried to calm myself.

Gosh! Nakakkaba talaga yung magkakapatid na yun.

I went back to my room at naligo tapos nagsuot ako ng comfortable clothes.

“Wow naman. Magkakaparehas pa tayo.” Sabi ni Irene nang magkita kita kami sa van na gagamitin namin

I’m wearing a sleeves beige hoodie sando tapos black jeans and black airmax rubber shoes. Yeah. She’s right, we’re wearing almost the same thing except kay Lavalee na naka ripped jeans.

We wore our IDs para pagdating sa school di na kami hassle. For sure there would be a lot of security protocols.

Pagdating namin sa school, lahat ng BM3 tulad namin nakapila.

Business Management Camp and because we’re third year na, the security protocols na kailangan namin sundin doubled.

Pagsakay namin sa bus yung pang apatan ang pinili namin.

Ganito ang set up:

Jace – Lavalee – Jess – Caspian – aisle – Ethan – Chelsea – Irene – Elijah

“Class BM–3, I want all of you to know that during this camp all of you will act as an employee while the student council president will act as your employer.” Sabi ng acting professor namin.

Wait what?! Student Council President?

Which means –

Icarus Santiago will act as our employer?

Damn! That man is too carefree but precise.

“Shinjirarenai!/ Mid-eul su eobsneun!/ Maji?!” sabay sabay na reaction namin nina Lavalee

(Unbelievable!/ Seriously?!)

“Yes, Ms. Kan? Ms. Han? Ms. Jang? Is there a problem?” tanong ng Professor namin and we shook our head.

We looked at each othe and I saw Lavalee smirk.

Looks like she won’t be going easy on this so called employment.

Irene’s POV

Ang sabi ng professor, CAMPING.

So why is it that right now we are in front of a COMPANY?!

“Lavalee, is this a joke? Or was there a mistake on the venue?” Chelsea asked

“I don’t think so.” Lavalee said while staring at the building in front of us.

“So BM3 you are all here because you need to learn the basics of companies and of course all of you will start from the bottom. No one is to be given a special treatment because even the school’s owner will not have it.” Sabi ng prof kaya napatingin kami kay Lav.

“All of you will be given 5K to manage for the whole week, some of you might be a best employee of the day depending on your performances and at the end of the camp you will receive your salary that costs 15K. You will also have to apply and find yourself a place to stay in.” The prof said

What? Maji?!

‘What? No!’

‘This is torture.’

‘Akala ko ba camping?’

‘Baka camping kasi sa labas tayo matutulog!’

‘Eew! Uuwi ako sa bahay.’

“By the way, bawal kayo lumabas sa vicinity.” The professor must’ve heard that last statement.

“Para saan po ang mga metal bracelets?” Chelsea asked

“Oh, right. Those metal bracelets serve as your trackers. You can also press the red button in case of emergency but you can only press it ONCE! I repeat ONCE. Kapag napindot niyo na ng isang beses it won’t work the next time around.” Sabi ng prof

We we’re given an envelope with a card inside.

Card? It isn’t an ATM card it just looks like a membership card though.

“May I have your attention, please? As you’ve been told earlier, ako ang magiging boss niyo. Don’t worry I won’t be strict at oo nga pala, ang mga card na yan ang magsisilbing wallet, ID at pass niyo sa lahat ng oras. Don’t lose that dahil diyan nakalagay ang pera niyo and as yu can see, may mga establishments like that hotel, restaurant, and shops. Have fun.” Sabi ni Icarus at pumasok sa building.

Everyone around us became frantic and there was disorder and scattering.

We formed a circle and planned what we’ll do..

“So, first thing’s first, maghahati tayo sa gawain.” Sabi ni Lavalee

“We need bio datas and may shop na nandoon. I volunteer to buy it.”  Chelsea said

“Then, we need to look for a place to stay in and a place to work in. Tal, go ahead.” Lavalee said so Chelsea went to the shop a little later they arrived with four folders

“Three bio datas for every folder. We need extra.” Chelsea said

“There’s eight of us so the plcae we need to find should be able to house all eight of us.” Sabi ni Jess and I agreed

“Dapat may maiwan sa atin. I mean, one or two of us has to stay here and guard our things to conserve energy.” I said

“Your job, Ire. Then the other one will fill up our forms, Tal.” Sabi ni Lav at tumango ako then si Chelsea

After that we scattered.

Elijah and I we’re left under a tree. We placed our things between us.

I took my string back pack and placed it on my lap.

“Ginagawa niyo? Nagde-date?” tanong ni Icarus pagkalapit dito

“Should I answer that as an employee or as me?” I asked sarcastically

“As you of course.” He replied cooly

“Gago. Tingin mo naman may jowa ako.” I said and rolled my eyes

“Well, I think you’d have one. Him.” He said and pointed Ethan so I threw a kunai

“May dala ka talagang ganito?” He asked unbelievingly

“Ay wala, Icarus, wala.” I said sarcastically

“Feeling mo naman hunger games toh.” Natatawang sabi nya

“Ay hindi ba? Kasi feeling ko magpapatayan talaga sila dahil sa hirap eh.” Sagot ko

Binalik niya yung kunai. Actually, he threw it but I caught it.

He left after that.

“Close kayo, noh?” Elijah said

“Uhuh. Childhood friends.” Sagot ko

Maya-maya dumating na sina Lavalee.

We pulled our luggage and followed Jess and Lavalee.

When we arrived we secured the house and roamed our eyes around.

There are three rooms so probably it would be us girls then the boys.

Chelsea distributed our folders.

“Ah, I did. This school detected that your files are fake so they ran a background check on the four of you so there’s no more point of using it.” Mahinahong saad ni Chelsea at inayos ang salamin niya

“Now that we have our resumes. Let’s apply.” Lavalee said and we scattered

Chelsea went to a bookstore or was that a Book Cafe? So yeah, of course, Ethan’s with her.

Jess and I went to a hotel while I saw Lavalee and Jace going to a, was that a bar?

Is that even allowed?

The metal bracelets has three buttons and a light.

I was confused when the light glowed orange so I pressed the orange button and a hologram screen appeared.

I’ll ask Chelsea to make one like this. We have to have one.

‘This place isn’t secluded so you’ll encounter different people too. You must act like how a real employee must. Good Day, Students.’

I applied as a cook while Jess applied as a receptionist. Caspian applied as the front door security guard while Elijah applied as a pastry chef.

“Marunong ka pala magluto.” Elijah said when he saw that I cooked Paella.

“Yeah. Ikaw, pastry chef?” I asked and he scratched the back of his head

“Nagvocational course lang habang nag-iipon.” Nahihiyang sabi niya

“That’s good.” Nakangiting sabi ko

We started right away.

There were lots of guests so we prepared the buffet table.

I made Shrimp Sinigang, Paella, and Chicken Curry.

When it was already pass noon I decided to eat since we’re allowed to do so if it’s already pass meal time. I saw Elijah while I was eating.

“Ang dami niyong niluto, Irene. Di pa napasma yang kamay mo? Nadarang ka ng apoy.” Sabi ni Elijah

“Nadarang?” naguguluhan kong tanong

“Nadarang na naman sa iyong apoy~~~.” May lalaki na biglang pumwesto sa tabi ni Ethan habang nakanta

“Ah you mean too exposed, ganoon ba?” tanong ko at tumango siya

“Nice, chix.” Sabi nung lalaki kaya tumalim ang tingin ko

“Tol, pakilala mo naman ako.” Another guy said and stood beside the other guy

“I’m going.” Sabi ko at inilagay sa lababo yung pinagkainan ko

“Sige. Kita nalang tayo mamaya. Wag ka agad umalis ah.” He said

“Okay. May icing ka sa lower lip mo.” Sabi ko at bumalik sa kitchen.

He told me na intayin siya because nung nasa mall kami iniwan ko siya so he had to ride with Chelsea adn Ethan para makauwi.

Nung hapon na nagulat ako nung makita ko sila.

I thought I’m fine. It’s still painful to accept.

“IRE!” minsan talaga ang sarap sabunutan at kalbuhin nitong si Jess eh.

Lumapit ako sa kanya at iniwasang mapatingin sa direksiyon nila. Kahit na alam ko namang nakita nila ako.

“Ate!” nagulat ako nung may yumakap sa akin

I felt my body froze because of what happened

“I miss you, ate. Sabi ni Daddy nandito ka na sa Seryphil and you’re really here!” masayang sabi niya

They walked towards me and I removed her hands from hugging me.

“Ate.” The older one greeted and nodded at me

“Oh my! I didn’t expect to see you here, ija. How are you?” she asked and smiled sweetly at me

“I’m fine, tita Rhea.” I replied not looking at my father.

“Ate, sa amin ka na ba titira?” Riley asked me

“Riley, nandito ako para mag-aral. Hindi pa ako sure.” Sagot ko sa kanya

“You’re studying here, ate?” Thunder asked and I nodded

“Thunder. Hi Tita Rhea, Tito Tyrone, Riley!” bati ni Jess sa kanila at inakbayan ako

“Nandito ka rin pala, Jess hija. What are you two doing in a place like this though? Did you check in here too?” Tanong ni Tita Rhea sa amin at umiling ako

“Irene! Tara na!” napantingin kami sa tumawag sa akin

“Ay. Sorry po.” Sabi ni Elijah pagkalapit.

He must’ve noticed we’re talking.

I mentally facepalm. If Lavalee didn’t tell us to endure and if Chelsea didn’t tell us to be nice I would have pretended I didn’t know him.

“Actually, may activity po kami ngayon sa School.” Sabi ni Jess

“And Irene chose to skip it. Kaya kayo nandito ay dahil tumakas si Irene at sinamahan mo siya. Hindi ba at tama ako, Jess? Wala –” Napayukom ako ng kamao dahil sa sinabi ng Papa ko

“Tyrone! Magdahan dahan ka nga sa pananalita mo. Anak mo rin si Irene.” Saway ni Tita Rhea sa kanya bago pa niya matapos ang sinasabi tungkol sa akin

“Ayos lang po, Tita Rhea. Andito po talaga ako dahil sa activity. Chef po yung pinili kong trabaho para sa activity namin.” Sagot ko at tiningnan si Papa

I stared at his eyes while sending a message that he doesn’t give a damn about what I am doing.

“Kita mo, Tyrone?” sabi ni Tita Rhea

“Talaga, ate Irene? Matitikman namin ang luto mo? I’m excited!” masayang sabi ni Riley

“Oo naman. Kung gusto mo pa nga ipagluto ka ni ate Irene mo pagkatapos ng activity namin eh.” Sabi ni Jess kaya napatingin ako sa kanya

“You’ll do that, ate? Punta kami sa bahay niyo ah.” Sabi ni Thunder

“Sige. Pwede ring pagkabili ko ng unit, dun tayo kumain at matulog. Yun ay kung papayag sina tita Rhea at P-papa.” Sabi ko at ginulo ang buhok ni Riley

“We’ll convince Daddy, ate. Diba, kuya?” sabi ni Riley at binalingan si Thunder

“No need to convince him, Zephanea. Pinapayagan ko kayo.” Sabi ni Tita Rhea

“Pwede rin po kayong pumunta, Tita.” Magalang ko sabi

“Sige, ija. Kapag may oras.” Sabi ni Tita Rhea

“Ahm, mauna na po kami. Nag-iintay na po sina Chelsea sa amin.” Sabi ni Jess

“Bye, ate.” Sabay na sabi ni Thunder at Riley kaya kumaway ako pabalik.

Pagdating namin sa tinutuluyan namin, nagbihis lang ako tapos natulog na.
