Chapter 21We had changed into shorts and short-sleeved shirts. I had put my bikini on under it just in case. You never know what will happen. Actually, I hoped I’d get a chance to swim with the manatee. I know we’d just gotten here but I was excited. It was easy carrying the boat down to the dock on the next street. After a short discussion, Sandy was at the front of the boat, Darlene at the rear. I got into the middle. They rowed us out into the end of the river. There were quite a lot of people in the area, everyone having some kind of happy vacation. They rowed us out onto the ocean, just south of the river delta. The nice young woman I’d spoken to at the MPS, the Manatee Preservation Society, told me that the most manatee gathered near there. There were signs all over the place saying
