Chapter 33The reentry was faster than I had thought and bumpier than we wanted. We felt a jolt as the parachutes deployed and we were yanked to a slower speed. There was suddenly gravity. You could tell which way was up and down. We were speeding horizontal to the earth. Then gravity was behind us, pulling us slower. The pressure on my chest made it hard to breathe. We were slowing down. Then we felt it touch down on the tarmac and we were slowed to a stop. Everyone began cheering! The crew made quick work of getting everyone unfastened from their chairs and we were on our feet hugging each other and patting everyone on the back.
