I quirked an eyebrow at him. “My knight in shining armor,” he said, grinning like he always did. It should have felt like a mockery, but it felt warm. Like he was touched by how protective I was. I rolled my eyes, and shoved the sandwich into my mouth. “Duh! Always, you idiot.” Just like that, with a simple statement, my heart settled. It had been over three years since I’d first seen Edi.
